Garbage Pail Kids history

Garbage Pail Kids is a series of sticker trading cards produced by the Topps Company. Originally released in 1985 and designed to parody the Cabbage Patch Kids dolls, which were popular at the time.

Each sticker card features a Garbage Pail Kid character having some comical abnormality, deformity, and/or suffering a terrible fate. With a humorous wordplay character name such as Adam Bomb or Blasted Billy.

Many of the card backs feature puzzle pieces that form giant murals. While other flip-side subjects vary greatly among the various series. From humorous licenses and awards to comic strips and, in more recent releases, humorous Facebook profiles.

Adam Bomb (Series 1 #8a) became an icon of the Garbage Pail Kids trading card franchise; the image was used on the first five series’ packs.

Best of the rest

DappRadar has been tracking WAX dapps since mid-December 2019. Since that time the fledgling blockchain solution has been steadily rising through the ranks. Recently occupying the position of ‘best of the rest’ in our recent dapp ecosystem trends report.

When looking at the other eight blockchains tracked by DappRadar outside of Ethereum, TRON, and EOS. WAX is leading the pack in regards to daily activity. Holding 44% of total daily active wallets and gaining ground on EOS.

The introduction of Topps trading cards to WAX is possibly the most highly anticipated launch of 2020. A globally recognizable brand will now be available to the world on the WAX blockchain and it will be extremely interesting to see how it is received.

If brand recognition and awareness can push more and more users to adopt blockchain technology then DappRadar sees this as only a positive step forward for collectibles, dapp games, and WAX generally.

Furthermore, if physical cards’ popularity and re-sale values are anything to go by then this launch could prove to be a pivotal moment for the WAX blockchain.

Topps Garbage Pail Kids cards have been selling since 1985
