Staking has quickly become one of the most sought after features in any coin out there, as evidenced by ETH's massive increase in staking eligible wallets with the announcement of staking in ETH 2.0. As long as the price of the coin remains fairly stable, staking is one of the safest and easiest ways to earn a passive income. It requires little to no expertise, just a wallet to hold your coins and depending on the type of staking that's done, a click or two to start earning rewards.

Then what's a staking pool and why should I be interested? A staking pool allows multiple people to pool their resources together so a higher reward can be earned. Several of the staking pools below also include masternode and shared masternode (if you're not sure what a masternode is, there's a good article here that explains it) services. I made sure to deposit my own coins and test many of their features in this again to make sure they were legit and profitable. Many of these I've been testing over the last month or so, I hope you enjoy!

It was very close ranking all of these but MyCointainer takes the top spot on this list by a slim margin. They have 66 coins supported - 13 of which are only for exchanging, an extremely clean dashboard that clearly lists yearly returns and reward fees and facts about each coin they support. MyCointainer makes it easy for staking newbies to come in and get started right away. You can either send coins directly to your wallet on the site or purchase them directly.

There's also several other services MyCointainer supplies, such as Airdrops and Bounties, I've tried a couple of the Airdrops for the purpose of this article and most are fairly simple to accomplish. I've been staking a small amount of DIVI over the last few weeks here and have been extremely impressed with the returns. I'll likely increase my holding and see how much more can be made.

Flits Node would be number one on this list if not for one flaw - the liquidity for Flits (FLS) on their exchange is terrible, which is probably a really good thing - nobody wants to sell their token since they believe in the project so much, but I want some dang FLS too. Outside of that they have great security for your assets, you own the private keys to the wallet and they work in a decentralized way. 50+ coins supported and a built-in exchange, terrible liquidity or not. I've been cold staking my PIVX on here for some decent returns.

Their app is also extremely clean and user friendly. Very similar to MyCointainer they have some good into information on each coin when viewing in the app.

SesameSeed is the only dPOS (delegated Proof-Of-Stake) app I'm including on this list. They support four different coins - ONE, ONT, ONG and TRX. How SesameSeed works is actually pretty interesting. You create your own wallet through their native Sprout Wallet then send one of the four coin types to that address. Because of how dPOS works the coins never leave your wallet, you just freeze them and assign the votes to SesameSeed. Instead of getting rewards in the type of coin staked you get rewards in the form of SEED which is redeemable at anytime for a pegged value which is backed by the cumulative staking rewards of all four coins supported. The rewards for this are slightly higher than just doing typical dPOS and your coins are always safe due to the Sprout wallet being non-custodial.

While doing the research for this I heavily utilized their Telegram community. They were extremely helpful, hooking me up with PDF after PDF of good information.

StakeCube is one of the most popular staking pools out there. They have a wide range of services from obviously Staking Pools, Masternodes, Shared Masternodes then even some of the more rare ones like Gaming, POW Mining and competitions. From what I've seen they've made some pretty good partnerships within the Crypto industry although no giant names yet.

Like most of these they also have their own coin, SCC, that can be used for multiple different purposes on the website. It's trading at a decent value, although not at a super high volume.

This is an old school staking pool that supports a large range of random altcoins (82 at last count). They've been around since 2017 with no known hacks or data leaks. They provide pretty basic services, simple staking services, masternode and shared masternode services, as well as a bounties page and the occasional coin pre-sale listed. Their interface is not nearly as friendly as some of the sites listed above but once you get your coins in there it's very hands off.

Someone randomly gave me 1,000 XP a couple weeks ago, I sent it on over to SimplePOS and haven't had to worry about it since. Just waiting for that sweet moon.

(Honorable Mention)

I debated back and forth as to whether or not to include this one in the top 5 and couldn't bring myself to do it. They have great services, a fairly robust knowledgebase as well as good uptime (96.31%) but I just hate their interface. It's the interface of trying too hard. Other than that it's a great service and more than worth checking out.

While I don't ever recommend keeping all of your assets in one of these staking pools they are an absolutely fantastic way to earn a little extra on any small market gems you believe in. When you check out the platform statistics for these sites there are people definitely making money. Usually anywhere between $500-$2,000.00 get's paid out daily to users on any one of the above.

I hope you enjoyed reading as much as I enjoyed putting all this info together. Check out my Twitter if you want to see me doing my best CryptoFinally impression.
