The SOLANA/IOTA Collision Course: Our ERC20/751/1155 Layer2 SmartContract Future with Layer1 Backbones?

Do repost and rate:

Many think #CARDANO is sitting pretty these days in spot Number #3 of MarketCap. OK congrats CARDANO. Nice Spin.

That said, in 12 months, the Crypto market will have self-organized yet again.

Right now we see the crypto markets re-organizing around ERC20/751/1155 protocol standards for #DEFI and Smart Contracts "SC".   Which is why Solana and to some extent #Polkadot(#DOT) have such high speculative market valuations today.

As such, these days, I have been drilling down on both Solana/NEON Labs and IOTA devnet2.0 comparison in the context of potentially creating a  Hosted Crypto Node 'HCN' Rig based on IOTA  to complement what we are already planning building a Hosted Operator Node Rig with Solana/NEON Labs. (Yes its a Hybrid comparison of both PoW & POS Layer 2 Sidechains running on different PoS versus PoW Layer 1 Backbones)

The Future is Layer 2 EVM and ERC SideChains  with scalable TPS provided by Layer 1 Backbone Ledgers

Make no mistake, Sidechain EVM Ethereum Virtual Machine Operation implemented as Smart Contracts #SC, plugged into Layer 1 backbones with scalable #TPS "Transactions Per Second"  is big. Doing so sees Layer 1 Solana and IOTA Backbone distributed public ledgers with create TPS creating many parallel operating side Blockchains capable of handling 100s of thousands DEFI and App SCs and their transaction volumes, and  it is this  Layer 2/Layer1 scalable systems architecture for crypto, networked together,   which  will get even bigger in the days to come.

Why a HCN IOTA Rig? (together with a HCN Solana Rig)    To keep you all updated, #IOTA have created a now working IOTA Storage Blueprint Chunk of Code (see link below)  reading/writing to #IPFS.  The same IOTA Storage Blueprint can also be relatively easily re-purposed  to read/write to Fast Storage. In our case we have a Fast Storage Appliance, so that is a good thing.   Why in practical terms? Convenience and lower cost  safe and secure deployment and operation . We are thinking and have some of our customers asking for  Plug N play Operator Hosted Crypto Node Rigs, with low cost leasing, for use in the home, office or your colo cage.

Hence the deep dive on this post.

Comparatively speaking, Solana has  great TPS scalability.

That said the Solana TPS is technically bottlnecked at the 'write to SSD'  point of their node design, so Solana Node Operators need to configure a Solana Node Rig with a decent amount of RAM (512GB)  and core count (12 or more 64Bit AMD) mated to really fast NVME PCIe3.0 or 4.0  SSDs to get a Solana Node to work fast enough, in order for the Solana Node operator to have a decent chance (% possibility each epoch) of winning a reward ,  which means that chance is really a function of how reliably (over time) the node functions  procssing a high volume of number of transactions validated/settled.

Most importantly, relative to #Solana/#NEON Labs EVM support, IOTA  has created and has working on devnet 2.0, their Layer2 (ETH double entry accounting) SCs capable now of running ERC20/751/1155 SC Smart Contract  examples effectively creating side chains  hosted on the IOTA  Layer 1 Backbone #DAG  #Tangle , essentially hosted #EVM  Ethereum Virtual Machine Sidechains.

The verdict on IOTA performance is not yet established as the first ERC SC examples have not really been setup to drive alot of transaction volumes in test mode, while  on the otherhand, Solana is quick to point out their Solana test network of 200 nodes has already been measured to handle a peak of 50,000 TPS.

Keep in Mind, IOTA #Tangle is a (#BTC  accounting form compatible) #UTXO Backbone Distributed Public Ledger.

The  IOTA devnet 2.0 test version of this nextgen TANGLE is now operational  running as  devnet2.0 nectar release operational  for any developer to use for free since June 2021.   Solana on the otherhand is really their own SPL native distributed node scale-out design which sees NEON Labs provide the EVM SPL solana smart contract instance, operating as an EVM SC, capable of handling ERC20 today and promised to also support ERC751/1155 tomorrow.

As such,  IOTA  is on a competitive collision course in 12 months with Solana , the latter having  a current spiked  US $20B marketcap.

TK Tip- Given  IOTA currently is US $2.8B MarketCap,  buying IOTA now makes much sense as imo, I expect a 5X+ Multiple on  an IOTA investment to occur within 12 months and also,  expect whatever the Solana price  is to get held back and even tugged a bit down when that happens.

For those Rig Builders considring building an IOTA Crypto Node Rig for Operator rental or lease , The IOTA Devnet2.0  is called 'Nectar' release.    IOTA currently have test Layer 2 sample SCs run interacting with the IOTA  test 'wwallet', which is popluated with coloured tokens to handle test transactions between different wwallets with  test MIOTA tokens acquired from the Devnet 2.0 Test Token faucet at no cost.

HCN_IOTA Rig Test Environment on IOTA Devnet 2.0   The suggested HCN_IOTA Rig SKU test strategy here is a Node Rig Builder would modify and operate  a re-purposed IOTA Storage Blueprint to write/read from to their own Fast Storage from Devnet 2.0.

Performance Comparison - Running a Remote Solana or IOTA HCN Rig at home or small office versus  a Colocation Facility   First Both Solana and IOTA test networks are fast, as it applies to TPS , Transactions per second.  Really Fast.     Both together in real life operation handling ERC SCs , would  inter-chain router combined  would create an ERC DEFI and SC  Settlement  network having a capacity of 100,000 TPS or more , easily surpassing th current fiat TPS champ for retail credit card transactions, VISA at 65,000 TPS.

In practical terms, any Validator, Settlement Node Operator in the home or Small office, or from their colo cage could easily compare performance over their same WAN network link to the existing IOTA Storage BluePrint instance running the IPFS write to your home machine, to generally  validate anbd  show the WAN speed HCN  rig  advantage even in WAN use/Home office use versus the IPFS setup.

cuz its all about market coverage The Coca Cola Kid- Eric Roberts

85% Addressable Market Reach Strategy- Targeted Rig SKUS for ERC20/751/1155 SCs - Solana/NEON Labs  and IOTA The suggested market coverage rationale here is that there are an increasingly greater number of  Home/Small office  Crypto Nodes being deployed out there, which lease  Node equipment today to make money from validating and settling  crypto ERC20/751/1155 transactions for many different  ERC altcoins,  in PoS Proof od Stake Networks (Mining only occurs in Proof of Work Networks).

Node Operators should consider  two such HCN Rig SKUS IOTA and Solana/Neon Labs deployed as  High performance TPS rigs , where the crypto node operator would gain immediate access to  a raw addressable market of 85%+ of all Smart Contract and DEFI transactions occurring today and staying that way  in 12 months and beyond ( I expect at least three years)

Hosted Crypto Node  "HCN" Operator Extra Benefits-

ERC Protocol SC Learning POC Environment Engagement

In the process of testing the above as a Proof of Concept,

The Node Operator gains an essnetially free set of dev/test environments to learn:

  a.  about EVM and ERC20/751/1155 Smart Contract operation and

  b.  better understand the difference between Solana/NEON Labs and IOTA TAngle L1/EVM ERC L2 interblockchain settlement

Node Operator  HCN_IOTA Rig- Possible SKU Packaging Options-

   1. IOTA Bee+WASP - Genesis Transaction DAG (More Data Storage/Ram)

   2. IOTA Hornet+WASP- SNapshot History Reduced DAG  (Less Data Storage/Ram)

Best EVM SC Market Coverage Mix- 12 Months.

Imo, adding an HCN_IOTA Rig  Sku to an HCN_Solana Rig  at your site(s) would give any Validator/Settlement Hosted Crypto Node Operator the greatest Market Coverage  of the EVM ERC20/751/1155 Smart Contract Market Segment,  which will still be 85% coverage of the market in 12 months.

Validator/Settlement Crypto Node Operator Revenue Enablement Strategy

Also  Vendors of such node Rigs will be  accepting payment from Node Operators  to cheaply rent rigs, in this case  for  both Solana and Iota crypto Node Rig forms, where these Rig Renters  are as well,  operating other  DEFI SC tokens and Altcoin Sidechain ERC cryptos running on EVM SCs plugged into the IOTA and Solana Layer 1 Backbone Distributed Public Ledgers, it  makes perfect sense for Vendors building and offering such Node Rigs to support Operator payments for these rigs in many forms of tokens and altcoins supporting both ERC and BTC formats, to make it easy for Node Operators to pay for these new  High TPS Performance Node Rigs.

HCN 'BIG Rig' Leading Payment Strategy

This means  any Node Rig Vendor building and renting such rigs should be supporting multi-signature  Metamask and Uniswap and ATomicDEX  enabled  Hardware Wallets  in order  support as many Node Operator cryptoNode payment pairs as possible to better enable the growth of the ERC EVM Smart Contract Market.  In this case, LEDGER is a good place to start ifor CloudProx in this instance

The Collision Course of Solana and IOTA posits a Bright Big Bang Future for Crypto

So there you have it, a look into the ERC/EVM Future of the Solana/NEON Labs and IOTA Collision course, which I think #DOT will also play into.

Keep in mind, #CARDANO may respond with a Layer 2 ERC Wrapper tech, CARDANO being a #UTXO shop (BTC accounting compatible, so I expect things to get quite interesting over the next 12 months, with the #Etheruem community also growing  and morphing in the Solidity Developer Sense  as well running on many different EVM SCs plugged into Solana/Neon Labs, IOTA and other Layer 1 Backbones providing ;inter-chain" settlement services between different altcoins utilizing ERC protocol standards supported by these EVM SCs.

Where this "'EVM RE-Loaded" world  leaves the greater  Crypto MarketCap size in 12 months?

My guess is, expect the overall Crypto MarketCap valuation to be somewhere north of US $3 Trillion, with BTC's share weighing in at 40%.

Let's see howi do in 12 months with that guess!

Onward and upward!

TK over and out.

PS- Solana gives great documentation(see link below).  ;)
