Fold has now released the much anticipated and highly teased update or revamp of their gift card and debit card purchasing ways! To be honest I have been a little harsh regarding how they have changed things because let's call it like it was... I was able to stack crazy amounts of sats with minimal effort or really even purchases. This revamped product allows FOLD debit card users, especially the Fold+ members the stacking abilities they once had just in a new way!
So what does this revamp look like?
Automatic 1% BTC Back
For Fold+ members for every purchase using the card, you earn an automatic 1% back in BTC for purchases using your Fold debit card. This feature has been long sought after by many as it lets users know the base amount of what they could get back instead of having to weigh the risks/odds of accepting the previous flat rate or spinning for either a better or much worse outcome. Now I know some especially those who love their spins are about to come out of the woodwork comparing but don't you worry in my opinion they only enhanced the ability to get more sats back and this is via the spins which now operate under a new system.
Wheel Spins New Function
Previously spins had been used to decide how much you got back in BTC if you chose that option if you didn't well the spins just kind of expired and would go away. Gone are those days though as spins are an independent thing much like how the daily wheel functioned. While you received the 1% back for every $10 you spent on your purchase you received one spin. This counts on both gift card and Bitcoin purchases as well! Now this is where the change is and where it can supercharge your sats back. Say you spend $100 on an Amazon gift card you get your 2.5% back in sats as well as 10 spins and if it was a $100 purchase you earn back $1 in sats along with the 10 spins. Like normal these spins are good for 24 hours and you can go to the wheel and spin! For Fold+ users the slices range from 1 BTC to 100,000 sats, 10,000 sats, and so on! Now this is for EACH SPIN meaning if luck is in your favor you could hit multiple 10,000 sat back slices and earn insane amounts of sats!
You can also now take all the spins you earn and use the Super Spin Slider to cash in all the spins at once! For whatever reason this morning when I launched the app I had 26 spins and I had not even used Fold in a couple of days! I immediately took these and earned an additional 500 sats back! Each day as a Fold+ member you get your one free spin a day allowing you the ability to hit these 100-250 sat slices without ever spending a dime! I have heard from people who have already hit the 5,000 sat back slice a couple of times on purchases where they only received 1-2,000 sats in the first place and then bam they hit an extra 5k making their BTC back jump considerably in value!
Wheel Spins Earning
As I had mentioned earlier you received 1 spin for every $10 spent so let's say you went out and spent $5 and then when you got home bought a $25 dollar gift card. Well, Fold combines these values so that you would have spent $30 and thus earn 3 spins instead of just 2! They even have a progress bar that allows you to follow how far away you are from earning your next spin! Now is this the biggest deal no. For projects like these though it shows the maturity in the company as they add these little bells and whistles for users to further their sat stacking ways! Now more than ever the more you use your Fold card the more likely it is that you can score some fantastic sats back!
Boosted Wheel!
As is typical with massive Fold updates like this there is a temporary added boost to the spin wheel! This wheel has a ton more options/slices that typically will not be there and open up a wide range of sats back options! With all of these options, the odds are in your favor of being higher and able to stack more sats! Fold+ users naturally have the better odds and are able to hit the higher rewards like 100,000 sats which is unavailable to those that just have the free Fold card.
Final Thoughts
I had been anxiously waiting to see Fold release updates that would make Fold+ a worthwhile addition. With this update I feel it is safe to say that they have accomplished this and are setting themselves up for the long-run.
