The Ethereum Foundation has launched two test networks for updating Ethereum 2.0 based on current clients Lighthous from Sigma Prime and Prysm from Prysmatic Labs. Testnet designed to search for vulnerabilities by hacking.
The project developers explained that test networks should be considered real, but they have several limitations. For example, only 4 nodes were launched in the network with 128 validators. In real terms, there will be thousands of them. There is also no possibility of making deposits.
The hackers ' goal is to disable the network and disrupt its security for 102 minutes. Developers are asked to prevent the confirmation of blocks in the network, which theoretically opens the possibility for rewriting the transaction history, re-spending them, and other malicious actions. There is a $5,000 reward for successfully interfering with the network.
