So, you want to hire someone to do the work you really do not want to do. Fine. But how do you choose the correct worker? Here are some tips.
1. Do not set an unreasonable price
Nobody is going to do some tedious work for 0.10$ an hour. Set your expectations reasonably. Otherwise only headaches and delays will be your friends.
2. Look through the portfolio
The portfolio shows what the worker can do. It is very important in gauging someone's ability to do your work. Look out for images that seem out of place. A quick Google search with the picture usually shows that the person is not trustworthy. The same goes for the writers.
3. Don't be a jerk
I didn't think I had to say this, but it's become more and more obvious to me, that people tend to completely disregard your input and see you as just a tool on their screen. I'd have nothing against that if they weren't complete jerks while doing so. It seems quite reasonable to me to remain kind and professional, yet strangely few people do so. So if you want your job done right, be professional.
4. Don't change the project on short notice
I had too many experiences where, due to whatever circumstances, the employer decided to just outright flip the project upside down 24 hours before deadline. I can't see any other reason for it than negligence or pure hate for the freelancers. And I get it, sometimes it's necessary. But it usually happens when number 3 on this list is also disregarded. If you do have to change your project on short notice, please be kind and understanding if freelancers can't complete it on time. They're people too after all.
5. Pay the workers
I have seen this scenario too many times:
An aspiring freelancer gets his first gig. He's thrilled and disregards some of the red flags. Maybe he's being careless or putting to much trust into his employer. Doesn't really matter, since the outcome is the same: The employer cuts contact after receiving the product.
In all seriousness, I've heard people in coffee shops planning to scam some poor guy or girl out of his/her money just due to greed. It's awful. Please pay Freelancers.
