If you have not heard yet about Metaverse, you are probably living on another planet. Although this market is more than 30 years old with the first games allowing to go into virtual worlds appearing in the late '80s, the hype around this market is mostly coming from the unexpected decision from Mark Zukerberg to rename his Facebook company "Meta". It is one more evidence that despite the decentralization that we all want, the big players like Facebook are leading the market, since this decision has allowed the sleeping Metaverse coins like MANA or SAND to suddenly pump, before declining, stabilizing and accumulating, which might announce a new rally in the near future. So, where you should you invest your money in the Metaverse world?
First strategy: to buy stocks of big companies investing into Metaverse
That's not even a crypto strategy, since in that case you invest into the standard stock exchanges. Although these stocks can be volatile, there is no risk of rug pull or regulation strengthening. You can invest in Meta (Facebook) or Microsoft. The main drawback is that their market cap is already too high.
Second strategy: to buy tokens of Metaverse projects
The tokens like SAND, GHST or MANA have a great potential. The key is to buy them at the right time, since they are highly volatile. However, there is almost no doubt about their long term potential. The Sandbox is currently only in the alpha phase... Not even in the beta. When you go on the Sandbox, you hardly see a few tens people playing on it. Just imagine the value it can reach once it has been fully launched (i.e., not only in alpha phase) and once it has been adopted by millions of people. Furthermore, the Sandbox is not only for playing. When you see that some superstores like Carrefour have bought some lands, it probably means they plan to settle some supermarkets in the virtual world where you can ultimately shop... Therefore, the Sandbox might be the Amazon of the years '30s. Not investing in the Sandbox today might be like not having invested in Amazon in the '00s...
Third strategy: to buy some lands in the Metaverse
In the major ecosystems like Decentraland (MANA) and the Sandbox (SAND), it is definitely too late to do that... Unless you have a few millions USD to play with and want to settle a store in the Metaverse world... An option might be to look at the new upcoming pojects where you can buy land at a reasonable price. You can even look at the new projects which are about to be launched on new blockchains (i.e., not Ethereum or Polygon). Fourth strategy: to play to earn
If you just want to have fun, you may play Axie Infinity or other play-to-earn games. But you'd better not do it for money. Because you will only earn cents. Therefore, if you try to compete against them, you will just waste your time.
