$8,000 for one Bitcoin is a good price, that's what I was told by a friend of mine a month prior to BTC hitting its 2017 peak. How right he was and still is... BTC at $8,000 was a damn good price, one that we will most certainly never get to. "Blessed" are the ones who have been able to accumulate under $10,000 to $20,000 levels.
Now I'm being asked by a friend of mine if it's too late to get in crypto. Of course not, I told him. Even if Bitcoin would be at its peak it would not be late to enter crypto. This technology is probably a century lasting one, or even more, so how can anyone be late to it, when it's just one decade old.
I actually bought myself my first coins back in October 2017 and although I could have made tons of money during that time if wise enough to do that, but I got out of the bull market at quite a loss. But the loss was pure monetary and it was temporary. I managed to cover my losses with a couple of good traders in early 2018 and here I am.
I have got into crypto at theoretically the end of the bull cycle, "too late" as some would say, but even if I'd held my positions from back then I'd still be in profit. "Crypto is in a period of hyper growth. Any metric you look at is exploding", said one meme account on twitter and how right the guy was.
We have attached ourselves too much on these previous four years cycles and think of crypto too much from the perspective of its dollar valuation. Blockchain technology and its tokenomics go beyond exchange listings and dollar valuations. I bet that in ten years from now we won't even look at charts anymore or have crypto stored on CEXs.
The environment would be so rich and engaging that we won't have to do that anymore.
We won't even rely on them(exchanges) that much, unless you're OK with all the KYC they'll have and the surveillance they will have to agree with, if wanting to still be in business. I believe that DEXs will eat the CEXs lunch sooner than most of us think. It's a bit of work to be done in order to make the UIs more at hand and do something about gas fees for some of them, but their future is the nail in the coffin for CEXs.
It's definitely not late
You know, back in my early days on Steem I was looking at bigger accounts and their progress, I was drawling at what rewards these guys were nailing on their posts and how all sort of people were dedicating time to read their posts and comment on them, while I felt so alone and left outside. I was literally dust to this platform.
Close to four years on this blockchain, being active on a daily basis and some of these accounts are not even active anymore, others no longer being that hyped anymore while some still rocking it. Time flies quite fast and development in this space happens even faster. I sometimes feel like time has a hard time to catch up with development
The truth is that I wasn't late for crypto, and I wasn't late for Hive either. It's a matter of perspective and what you do with that "time in the market". You can buy the absolute top and still be in profit in a few years. Most of the ones that bought the top in 2017 are over 2x profits right now, if they haven't sold of course.
Now, I have been throwing around this super cycle theory for a while and we(the super cycle flat earthers) might be right about it, or not, but what difference does it make. Development is in full swing and that's what matters. There's a whole new plethora of apps and ways of getting involved in crypto and my bet is that there will be 2x of all of that in a year from now.
Whether we will have a bear market or not... I can only imagine how Hive will expand in a year from now, just by seeing what's done since its inception. The times of "late for crypto" haven't come yet, we're actually early. That's what I told my friend asking whether he could be late for crypto. We will have to see if he "has the balls" to open the door and enter the ballroom though.
