Texas A&M to Host Bitcoin Conference!

As a graduate of Texas A&M University, I was extremely happy and proud to hear that my University was going to be hosting a Bitcoin Conference next week. Announced yesterday the lineup of this conference is PACKED and run all day next Friday and Saturday! The individuals that have been announced so far bring a wide array of knowledge to this conference. Individuals from huge finance powerhouses to government regulators and of course some big-time Bitcoin enthusiasts! Below I have listed just some of the big names that have been announced so far!

  • Michael Saylor- Chairman and CEO of MicroStrategy
  • Dawn Stump- Commissioner of the Commodities Futures Trading Commission
  • Eric Maskin- Professor of Economics at Harvard and Nobel Laureate
  • Rob Kaplan- President and CEO at Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas
  • Ray Dalio- Founder of Bridgewater Associates
  • Michael Daffey- Chairman of the Global Markets at Goldman Sachs
  • Tim Draper- Founder of Draper Associates/DFJ/Draper University
  • Many many others

Some of the people listed like Michael Saylor are big-time names that carry a lot of weight in the crypto whelm. Others like Dawn Stump and Rob Kaplan are big with how the government regulates and views crypto. My favorite person though by far was Tim Draper, not to be confused Dapper Labs, who has an interesting and really neat story with Bitcoin and crypto overall. This is a really wide array of people and that brings so much more to the conversation than just a bunch of people sitting around either for or against it!

The goal of this May's Conference is to give participants, viewers at home and in-person Saturday, a better idea of not only what Bitcoin is but how it works, what the possibilities with it are, what are limitations for it, and how the future of Bitcoin might look. Below is the schedule that they have released so far it looks to be a jam-packed affair!

Now the whole conference will be available online you have to register through the website here. If you are by any chance a current Texas A&M student when you click on the registration link at the bottom there is an email for you to RSVP to as it is free to current students. I have never looked at Bitcoin conferences so I have no idea if the $50 it cost is the going rate or an over/under charge.

It is really nice to see a University put one of these together so their students can learn about an increasing and growing area that they can work in! When I graduated last May crypto and blockchain were unheard of but last year really changed the whole game. I plan, if work allows some to, to turn in and see how the conference is! It will be interesting to see what the government officials have to say about it, that is the part I really want to see.

Regulation and Society adoption
