Web 3.0 front-liner Subsocial, an open platform for decentralized social networks and marketplaces built on Substrate 2.0, presented Polkaverse: a sub-network for everything Polkadot and Kusama. The project also announced its plans for the second half of the year, which include a public token sale in mid-summer.
Subsocial finished 2020 strong, with solid backing from the Polkadot and Web3 communities and a personal testimonial from Gavin Wood – and has kept the momentum throughout the first half of 2021. To begin with, it successfully delivered its second Web3 Foundation grant. Secondly, its ecosystem has grown significantly, as a number of prominent projects – including Acala Network, Plasm, Bifrost, Litentry, and KILT – joined the platform. And lastly, Subsocial enabled the creation of independent public communities, with Polkaverse paving the way for others.

Polkaverse is a niche independent community for discussing every conceivable topic around Kusama and Polkadot. Free from irrelevant information, it can be accessed through the native web dapp where users can log in with their Substrate address via of Polkadot{.js} extension.
In order to provide a better user experience, the sub-network was integrated with Kusama: it displays both the data from the on-chain identity module and the account roles within the Kusama blockchain (e.g., Council, Validator, Technical committee). In the near future, the developers plan to add integration with Polkadot, and enable the creation of Kusama Treasury proposals right on Polkaverse.
Polkaverse is based on the Subsocial networking protocol, which allows top-level customization. With its help, anyone can build an alternative for any social network of today – or create the Web 3.0 communities of tomorrow.
The Subsocial ecosystem is powered by the native SUB token, which will soon be available through crypto exchanges. As the private sale is drawing to a close, the platform is preparing for the next important milestone: the start of the public sale and the initial exchange offering (IEO) planned for the middle of this summer. Additional details, like the exact dates and the full list of exchanges, will be announced shortly. There will be no IDO on existing Ethereum-based DEX-es, as SUB is not an ERC20 asset.
Besides that, the developers will proceed with other plans and features, such as allowing communities to issue their own social tokens, offering users an option to create posts as NFTs, and developing the Subsocial cross-platform mobile app.
