Nope, ERC 404 is not something like http's Error Code 404 Not Found, ERC404 is a presentation of new Tokenomics.
First we will understand
The full form of ERC is "Ethereum Request for Comment", this is a standard for smart contract programmers performing on Ethereum Blockchain. Ethereum has introduced numerous ERC standards, the most often used ones are ERC721 for non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and ERC20 for fungible tokens (cryptocurrencies).
Now we will learn
ERC404 is a hybrid of two popular standards: ERC20 and ERC721, meaning this standard combines the features of fungible and non-fungible tokens. While each token in the ERC20 standard has a similar identity, each token in the ERC721 standard is unique. ERC404, unofficially (without EIP), combines the functional capabilities of both standards.
The First Ever
ERC20 ERC721 and ERC404
Historically, Forecast Foundation launched Augur, the first ERC20 and also the first ERC ever, in October 2015, and Dapper Labs introduced CryptoKitties, the first ERC721 and also the first Play-2-Earn, in November 2017. Although Pandora, the first ERC 404, was released in February 2024, we currently don't know anything about its developer(s).
