A little over 12 hours ago, Starry Night Capital, a rather new NFT collector group purchased two Dmitri Cherniak NFTs. The NFTs are part of an extremely limited collection of four algorithmic editions. Titled “A Slight Lack of Symmetry Can Cause So Much Pain”, the two pieces joined Starry Night Capital’s portfolio for a total of 1300 ETH, worth more than $4.1 million.

Both pieces follow Dmitri Cherniak’s signature style, recognizable from his Art Blocks collections. However, the four limited editions “A Slight Lack of Symmetry Can Cause So Much Pain” NFTs are not part of Art Blocks. In fact, the art itself was generated more than a year ago in April 2020. However, Cherniak only minted the images as NFTs 2 months ago. Since then bidding wars have been going on both on SuperRare and on OpenSea. The culmination of these wars came yesterday with Starry Night Capital’s enormous investment.

One of the remaining two NFTs in the collection is still in Dmitri Cherniak’s mint wallet. The last one was bought by this wallet more than a month ago for 388 ETH, or $1.24 million. Interestingly, DappRadar recently reported that the same wallet purchased two Chromie Squiggles NFTs for upwards of $4 million.

What is Starry Night Capital?

Starry Night Capital is a somewhat mysterious NFT collectors fund that has only been on Twitter since August this year, and has one tweet in it. What’s more impressive, Starry Night Capital has only joined OPENSEA today – October 1st, 2021. Currently, the fund’s official website is a single landing page showing an image of a starry night.

Nevertheless, their portfolio already features more than 10 NFTs, the cheapest of which an XCOPY one called “Citizens!” and purchased for 10 ETH. According to the official Twitter account, this collaboration aims to assemble “ the world’s finest collection of NFTs”.

Judging by their recent purchases, Starry Night Capital are not afraid of investing big sums into NFT art. Among their other NFTs, we can find a Rarible piece that cost 169 ETH, and another Dmitri Cherniak NFT bought for 150 ETH.

DappRadar will continue monitoring Starry night Capital on their road to accomplishing this grand mission. To dig around deeper and take a closer look at Starry Night and co-creator Vincent Van Dough, check out the links below.
