Splinterlands Weekly Challenge Battle BATTLE MAGE SECRETS! Broken Arrows rule set

Every week there is a SPLINTERLANDS challenge to share a rule set using a specific card and on this week's post it is a battle with the Broken Arrows rule set. I also encourage  players to partake in the challenge because you get to try different strategies and earn some crypto in the process.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

The ruleset this time is Fog of WarBroken Arrows. No ranged monsters can be used and all monsters lose their snipe, sneak, or opportunity abilities. There are also 23 mana available and I am left with the choice of fire, water, earth, or death

The summoner I choose to use this time is Obsidian. It increases my magic damage by 1 and I can use my cards to it's highest level.

My plan is to deal magic damage against my opponent. With Hill Giant up front due to it's high health and the rest of my lineup is just for damage. I do have one scattershot monster to target some backline monsters and  to increase my armor against the melee monsters.

At first glance, I think that my opponent has the advantage because he has a monster with . This will reduce my magic attack by 1 and my opponent will have his entire magic lineup buffed by Obsidian. It's not looking great for me because my opponent's lineup just looks superior.

I lost 2 monsters and my opponent is still healthy. At this point, I don't think there is any way for me to win because my opponent also had tank heal. With my reduced magic damage, I am struggling to kill off my opponent's monster and having scatter shot is turning out to be a detriment. The  in the back just heals up the damage that I do and it doesn't have enough magic attack to kill off any monster.

I lost this match but I did at least take out the Hill Giant. The reduced magic damage and all the support abilities was just too much for me to overcome in this match.

The battle did not go as I expected because my opponent just decreased my damage and then all the heals just helped him survive. The weapons training from my opponent also was quite annoying to deal with as it also increased his damage. That no attack monster with silence is quite powerful and I really need to get that card. It's a hard counter against those magic monsters and combining it with weapons training would definitely make it a decent attacker as well. So I think I learned a decent viable strategy for the future.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players play in a ruleset.
