Splinterlands Weekly Challenge Battle BATTLE MAGE SECRETS! Aimless

Do repost and rate:

Every week there is a SPLINTERLANDS challenge to share a rule set using a specific card and on this week's post it is a battle with the Aimless rule set. I also encourage  players to partake in the challenge because you get to try different strategies and earn some crypto in the process.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

The ruleset this time is Armored Up. This means that all ranged monsters will attack random monsters and all monsters also start with +2 armor. There is also 36 mana available and I am left with the choice of all  except for death.

The summoner I choose to use this time is Obsidian. In this match, using magic to cut through to my opponent's health will work out better and this summoner increases my magic damage.

My plan is to use all magic monsters. I have Lurking Puffer up front for a cheap but effective tank. It does have corrosive ward so armor will get sapped but I don't expect that to be much help because I am using all magic monsters. Then I have weapons training in the 2nd spot to give my no attack monsters magic damage and another no attack monster in the 3rd spot to take advantage of that weapons training. After that is my magic damage dealers.

At first glance, I think I can still win this match. If I can dodge enough attacks, then I should be able to wipe out the huge damage dealers up front but that will have to rely on some luck because of scattershot given by the ruleset.

Ambush is throwing the number off but the picture above is the 2nd actual round. I guess ambush is calculated as a round on its own. We are both down one monster but my damage is all spread out. It doesn't help that my Florre got stunned and wasn't able to attack either.

I lost another two monsters and my opponent's main damage dealers are still alive and strong.

I was finally able to kill off one monster but it's not looking that great for me. My Regal Peryton is almost dead and my opponent still has a lot of monsters left. Unless I am extremely lucky, I will lose this match.

Unfortunately, I did end up losing the match.

The battle did not go as I expected and I think I had a solid plan. It's just too bad that my luck wasn't there as I didn't dodge enough attacks or land my attacks on the correct monsters. I still think magic was the right play but I think I went with too many low mana monsters and swapping out Florre for some other decent cards might have been a better choice. After all, that ranged attack from Florre would have to hit the armor first.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players play in a ruleset.
