Splinterlands Battle Mage Challenge: Odd Ones Out!

Do repost and rate:

This week's Battle Mage rule set challenge was Odd Ones Out in which only monsters with odd mana may be used!

Odd ones out general strategy....

There's not a lot to say here - other than you're limited to half your deck, but there are SO many cards I don't think any one splinter is really advantaged that much.

The good thing about these rule sets is that they make you look at cards you may not USUALLY use and rely on alternatives.

It also very much depends on what the combined rulesets are - your certain go-to splinters may just be ruled out - for example this rule set with something like equalizer which favours healing, I'd usually go with Earth, but here you can't play the Goblin, or any other healer I don't think, so another Splinter is probably best with odds healers!

Battle Exemplar!

I haven't had this ruleset come up in ages, so I've had to fall back on it's opposite: EVENS - it's still worth a look!

battle below shows another high mana Kitty victory!

Mana and rulesets:

  • Melee only and even stevens.
  • ** Summoner - Kitty!**
  • Chain Golem - a solid high mana tank with shield(s)
  • Djin Chawala - an underrated reach monster! Also THORNS
  • Deep Lurker - just an awesome opportunity card
  • Vruz - useful low mana sneak attack
  • Cocatrice - Opportunity sink
  • Kraken - Taunt!

The battle...

  • round 1 - I take out the Scorch Fiend
  • round 2 - I take out the Zenith Month, no healing!
  • round 3 - no losses!
  • round 4 - I take out the Gargoya Devil
  • round 5 - no losses
  • round 6 - I take out the Elven Defender, took a while!
  • round 7 and 8 - no losses
  • round 9 - I take out the Deeplurker
  • round 10 - it's all over, I take out the Demon shark!

Final battle analysis

I obviously had far superior cards here.

My Kraken with high speed did an amazing job of eliciting a lot of misses and didn't go down in 9 rounds of assault!

The fact that I slowed down my killing suggests bad card placement by my opponent! Also he had too make cards just sitting there, he needed more opportunity of sneak cards!

Odds or Evens final thoughts

No particular strategy other than for the standard rule set, this just forces you to know your cards better and mix it up!
