Splinterlands: How to beat Overpowered Cards

Do repost and rate:

Hi everyone and welcome back to my SPLINTERLANDS Blog, today I will be making a new Social Media Challenge post, we need the HIVE flowing in to our accounts to expand our decks of course, so we kinda 'have' to write about this cool game ??.

To find out how you can participate in this challenge yourself, you can find the Splinterlands post here.

At the start of the previous season, I was seeing a LOT of overpowered cards being played, for me it was a reminder of how things were back in 2021 when I started playing, and man it was annoying facing these overpowered cards again and having my ass kicked by them, in my oppinion low skilled players are just forcing their way up in the rankings by renting a few O.P cards, it's no fun I think, but they're not doing anything against the rules, and I'm free to rent the same cards, but I won't, and I try to counter them where I can and it feels good to win against them! ??

It also reminded me why I hated Mylor so much! ??

That being said, the overpowered teams are just too favoured at some rulesets to win against, and countering is easy when a player spams the same team over and over, but at least I can try, but I can imagine they're too much for newer players, so today I will explain how I try to counter them one by one, let's start with the relatively newcomer, loved by the people who are lucky enough to pull her, hated by the ones not owning her:

This epic Gladiator card has two attack types and has the bloodlust and self heal ability, and is often accompanied by one or two martyr cards boosting her stats so the bloodlust ability can start taking of, the bloodlust is what makes her so dangerous, and once it starts going it's hard to stop and will wipe out your team really fast. There are two ways to counter Quora, with the dispel ability that will cancel her bloodlust and will reset her stats the the starting value, or stop her healing ability with affliction, on my alt account I use Captain's Ghost for this and it works really well!

This team, and other versions of it is pretty common, mostly seen without any sneakers in it.

Next is...

Yodin Zaku:

This legendary summoner from the Untamed set is not as strong anymore as back in the day, reflected by his decline in price. While his abilities didn't get nerfed, the Splinterlands teams finds other way to make really overpowered cards less powerfull by designing other cards or new abilities to counter them, really nice for game balance. He's still quite expensive at $160 per BCX, but my friend bought it once for about $800 so he's not too happy ! Yodin literally blasts your team from the battlefield, most teams will wield ranged units with the snipe ability so the attacks land in the middle of your team for maximum blast damage, he works well in Scattershot battles too. I like to counter Yodin by using a Taunt / Reflection shield combination to control where his fire is going, and stop the blast with the reflection shield while hunting his powerful archers with sneak or opportunity monsters. The Fire and Water team is nice for this, with water you can use Wave Brood to taunt, and Venator Kinjo to stop the blast, or Tide Biter when you have a higher level. On my main account, I like to use Quix the Devious to nerf his archery damage and speed, but since I don't own it on my alt, I went for a full Fire team.

Next, not in order of how powerful or annoying they are ??...

Llama / Kron:

This a combination of two cards with a devastating synergy, the legendary Untamed summoner Scarred Llama Mage teamed up with Kron the Undying, mostly played with a few filler cards in front of him with Kron at the very back, so when he gets to the front, the Last Stand ability kicks in. As with most of these cards, you have to KNOW he is coming, so it only works against players who spam this team. Basically you just need to take out Kron before he gets to the front and he goes beast mode with last stand, he will be very hard to kill by then and will simply out heal your damage while doing 5 magic damage himself. Affliction also doesn't help because Llama will cleanse it. I saved counters to these teams with my alt account on purpose, so you can see it can be done with a lower level account too. On normal set ups I would never put Serpentine Spy all the way to the rear, because he gets killed way too fast by enemy sneaker, but I knew my opponent was going to play this team again, without sneak.

Mylor Crowling:

Next in line to be beaten is Mylor Crowling, a summoner from the Dice mini-set that came after Untamed. He gives Thorns to all monsters, making him very annoying to face. He often is played with Unicorn Mustang with a healer behind it so it's a anti melee and anti magic team. So what works best is ranged attacks. I use Water a lot for this, Kelp Initiate in the front, Captains Ghost to stop the healing, and Axe Master in the back. But Immortalis works well too, but not everyone has the luxury to own Ava the Daunted, her Weapons Training ability is very nice to get 2 extra low mana archers to hunt the barbed monsters. The enemy Mylor team isn't cheap with a lot of epics and legendary cards, but he still lost hard because he spammed the same strategy making him easy to counter.

Last but definitely not the least at all...

Byzantine Kitty:

This legendary summoner in also from the Untamed set, and considered by many to be the best summoner out there which is also reflected by her price tag: $220 per BCX. Speed is very important and Kitty gives 2 extra speed, on top of that True Strike AND Tank Heal, making her the worst to counter, because.. well... she's just awesome. Again... you need to know she's going to be played, and to stop the Tank Heal, like with Kron, you need to bring Affliction and then still, you have to have some luck and you will fail too countering her, but we can at least try! My opponent spammed was an Agor Longtail team with a healer behind it, so I figured I need Void against the magic damage, repair to take on the melee damage, affliction to cancel the healing and some other monsters to kill everything.
