Splinterlands - First Tournament

Do repost and rate:

So I entered my first tournament a day or so and thought I'd write a quick piece about it and how I did since it just finished.

First things first, feel free to just go to their website directly but if SPLINTERLANDS interests you I'd be very happy if you joined up with my referral link:

Tournaments - I didn't really know they existed or how they worked as I play Splinterlands primarily on IOS mobile which doesn't support events yet so as far as I know you have to do them on a PC.

The tournament I entered was:

Key things to note:

  • It had an unlimited number of places (i.e lots of people could join)
  • It cost 1 DEC to enter so if you placed in the top 100 you'd get your money back and more
  • It was for Bronze League players and no legendaries were allowed.
  • There were a number of rounds, (it lasted 2 rounds), the group size was 10 so you had 9 battles per round (provided you got to the next round).
  • Only Reward, Untamed, and Dice edition cards were allowed.

So yes it can be a bit complicated to find a good tournament to enter but this one worked for me.

How it worked?

  • In this tournament there were 9 battles per round
  • You set up your teams in this case anytime but once you start a team you only have 3 minutes 20 seconds to do so.
  • Each battle can have different rules (i.e. odd number cards only, ranged attackers get the snipe abililty, no heal abilities are active etc).
  • You can set up all your battles at once, i.e. all 9 of your opponents were set and you can make all of your teams up accordingly.  The battles will actually occur when the respective opponent has made their team for the respective battle.

How did I do?

  • Not that great - Lots of people had much better cards than I, gold cards, upgraded cards etc.
  • However I made it through the first round winning 5/9 and then 2/9 in the second round.
  • So my final result was rank 74 and a prize of 30 Dec - a 29 Dec profit!!!

The tournament was fun, I'll keep looking out for ones I can enter, unfortunately without a lot of cards I won't meet the entry requirements for most but the profit is definitely worthwhile!

So that was my first tournament - a fun idea and thing to have a go at.  It will be great when I can enter in to more (and do better in as I get more cards!!)  Maybe in another tournament I'll post more about each battle, that being said that would be quite a lot to write about if it was 18 battles like this time (and might be depressing to write about given my poor win rate!)

Hope you found the post interesting and that if you're interested in Splinterlands you'll give it a go (hopefully with my referral code!)
