Splinterlands - Battle Mage Secrets: Aim True! (Welcoming party for Mylor)

Do repost and rate:

Good morning everyone, I hope you're having a great day! Welcome back to my SPLINTERLANDS blog, today I'll be making another Battle Mage Secrets post, last weeks I was making two Battle Mage Secrets posts but the second one didn't got upvoted two weeks in a row now, no guarantees of course, it looks like these posts are getting pretty populair, 180 reactions with people who made content, wow! It's certainly a good thing, it means Splinterlands is getting more attention now we are out of the crypto winter.

If you're a Splinterlands player and not blogging, you should try it!

To find out how you can participate in the challenge yourself, you can read the Splinterlands post here.

As we're getting closer to Christmas I took some days off, one more day this year left for me to work, that's a nice idea lol, so I hopefully have more time to make these posts and play my ranked battles and managing my guild.

Are you already using the new Rebellion cards? It's pretty expensive to level them up, and I expect when supply rises in the coming months, prices will drop, but of course that all depends on how many packs are going to be sold and if the bull market continues. When new players start to get in to the Splinterverse again, crazy things could happen as we have seen in the second half of 2021, it's when I joined this great game too!

On to the main topic: the Aim True ruleset!

This is a pretty simple ruleset: attacks of any kind can't miss their targets, so the dodge ability is useless here, speed is still a factor, only not for dodging, but faster cards do attack first, so it's still nice to delete a few low HP cards before they're able to fire themselves.

Melee and Ranged attacks will always hit their target.

This applies to magic attacks even if the Phase ability is in play.

The batle I want to share for this post is a Wild League, 42 mana battle with Water and Life locked out, my opponent was playing a lot of Mylor teams so I kinda anticipated to that in making my own team. Some summoners are really strong, but luckily all teams have counter plays!

First look at the battlefield:

Yup, it's Mylor! When you allow your opponent to anticipate what you are going to play, you're giving him or her an advantage in the battle, so it's important to rotate different strategies and summoners, so your opponent is never sure what you are going to bring to the battlefield. I also think about the current ruleset of course, and look at what my opponent likes to play. In this case, it was pretty easy, Mylor teams generally have a void tank and protect (Queen Mycelia) with magic casters to kick out enough damage while the enemy monsters kill themselves with Thorns damage.

This team has a level disadvantage and didn't use protect so my Lira the Dark can take out the weaker team members one by one without any issues, the double heal is annoying but won't last long with my affliction and opportunity to take out the healers, this will be an easy battle!

My Line-Up:

  • : Thadius Brood - reason: -1 magic damage.
  • First position: Harklaw - reason: Shield against thorns, good HP, ok damage.
  • Second position: Venari Marksrat - reason: Martyr to boost Usut when Harklaw died.
  • Third position: Usut - reason: a Secondary tank with good HP to soak up damage.
  • Fourth position: Lira the Dark - reason: Good damage very fast opportunity to take out those soft targets.
  • Fifth position: Undead Archer - reason: This isn't a cheap card but worth it: good damage for only 3 mana and can stop healing.
  • Sixth position: Dhampir Stalker - reason: High damage archer to take out the void tank.

The Battle:

Lira instantly deleted Mushroom Seer before it could do anything, affliction didn't proc so Unicorn Mustang got healed twice, but that's ok, I'm doing enough damage and he isn't.

Lira is really the star of this battle, of course it's a team effort, you always need a tank and support cards, but she's picking of the soft targets one by one.

Harklaw got killed, but that's ok since he was only there to protect the rest of my team and Usut is the real tank that isn't affected by Thorns, this will be over next round.

Not quite yet! He actually managed to survive! Lira will make the kill at the start of the next round though.

It's a win! pretty decent SPS reward for Wild League too ??

You can watch the battle unfold for yourself here.

Well that's it for this post, now I'll do some more ranked battles in Wild League, it's still too early to switch to Modern, it's really tough out there so I'll be hunting bots for now.
