Over and over I see people talking about accidentally sending their crypto on the wrong network. And in my head, this feels like a fatal design flaw that could have been avoided in the conception of crypto. As well, I have to believe it could be fixed now.
Where is the compatibility/acceptance checks in the transaction tech? How is there not a handshake prior to the transaction attempt. It seems like a public header of context (what network am I, and what network are you?) should be handled with a response. Wallets then could know, before the transaction attempt, if said transaction would fail to the void and deploy a warning to the sender.
Hearing these stories puts fear in those unfamiliar with crypto, as it should. Solve this, and I think crypto gains WAY more users in trust.
Edit: corrected myself, said chain where I meant network, when speaking to "what network am I, and what network are you". Also, I know this comes off as heavy criticism, but we need it.
