(Remark) is one of the most advanced standards in the NFT world, due to its characteristics. These NFT have been launched on . Kusama enjoys the full functionality of a blockchain but is also a Polkadot testnet on which dapps and functionality are tested. Basically when we talk about RMRK we are talking about "lego art", NFT multiples which, if combined, lead to the creation of arbitrary/more complex NFT systems. The canonical NFT are simple static jpeg or gif, in this case it is possible to vary their visual appearance (with emoticons and emojis) and characteristics: this is why we can define them NFT 2.0.

These are multichain NFT that will be possible to trade on any parachain on Kusama (for example on Bifrost and Karura). The peculiarity is that the code is written directly on the blocks and not on the smart contracts (to ensure multi-chain compatibility they will also be written via smart contracts). NFT are not only works of art or related to gaming but can be brought to another layer 1 that supports them, added as an asset in a liquidity pool, provide liquidity in the 2 chosen tokens and do Yield Farming perhaps with a boost (because you you are a holder of this NFT).

As mentioned, these legos (elements), combined with each other, generate a more complex NFT. As we can see an RMRK NFT is made up of multiple resources and I, if I am the owner, can switch between them:

By pressing on one of the images (or on the video) it is possible to choose the one that will be shown. On the RMRK website they also say that functions will be implemented for these NFT to evolve over time.

They can be found on the Singular market (Statemine and Kusama).

Singular supports Kusama NFT (RMRK) and Statemine NFT (which is a parachain of Kusama). Natively Polkadot does not support NFT, initially the same was true for Kusama too (because Statemine is its parachain) until the creation of RMRK (which are its native NFT).

Basically we have:

1) Statemine NFT (Kusama's parachain) + RMRK (Kusama's native NFT)

2) Statemint NFT (Polkadot's parachain)

There are also "old school" NFT on Singular, I received these NFT by participating in the Polkadot Decoded (they are simple jpeg not composable!):

project was also built with the RMRK standard on the Kusama blockchain in March 2021. Basically these are eggs that once hatched gave rise to kanaria (Japanese birds). NFT in this case can have as a resource a generic item, a hat, a gem, a flag, a weapon and so on. All these resources (which are other NFTs) can be added to the main and compose it. For example, I can add a weapon to my character (and this opens up interesting scenarios also in terms of gaming and metaverses, as basic canonical NFTs cannot be composed, even if it is possible to interact and add other assets as we see in the Sandbox) or changing the scenery (background). Each Kanaria NFT has various statistics and 7 body parts with a certain % which indicates its rarity compared to other birds (and so far nothing new compared to the canonical NFTs on Ethereum), however it also has slots which it is possible to fill with resources to equip it (it's an inventory that contains other NFT).

Removing an asset from the main NFT only causes it to disappear visually but will still remain in the inventory and usable in the future. Obviously each equipping and unequipping will lead me to sign a transaction on the blockchain. Resources can also be sent to other Kanaria that you may own, increasing or decreasing their value. With the launch of this metaverse, through the birds it will be possible to earn by extracting resources which can then be sold.

Another interesting feature is that off and on chain interactions will lead to the so-called "conditional rendering": if I click on an NFT with the mouse, it will blush or laugh. Or by sending a certain number of emojis, it will change its appearance.

Will NFT finally lose their reputation as a simple "jpeg" and become really something useful? Only the future will tell us.
