Redeemable NFTs on WAX

Hello! I'm Byron from Canada and I draw zombies. I've been drawing and painting the undead for a very long time, and because of this I have amassed a huge collection of original artwork. I literally have boxes filled with paintings and ink drawings and when I look at the pile of artwork, I am somewhat glad that I don't work on very large canvases.

The artwork has been accumulating for a while now because selling original artwork online is hard. Finding the audience has been pretty easy as long as your consistent, but asking people to buy artwork is harder.

Then the blockchain came knocking on my door and I didn't have to sell original art anymore. I could just sell NFTs ... or as I like to call them, Digital Art Collectibles. With Digital Art Collectibles on the WAX blockchain, I was able to unleash even more creativity and spread it around.

But the artwork continued to accumulate.

Two years in the crypto world to sell my art as digital collectibles has given me a lot of time to try to come up with the best way to sell my artwork and get it out into the world instead of being stuck in a storage bin.

It turns out that there is no best way. There are only different ways and when you're an independent artist, the best way is try all the ways and figure out which one is best for you. The hardest part is still packing the artwork up and sending it out, but I imagine that will become easier as I do it more and more and more and more.

One new method for getting my artwork sent out around the world is to offer it up as redeemable Digital Art Collectibles on the WAX blockchain. The idea is pretty simple. Get a redeemable and hold it until the redeemable date. This will give the owner of the Digital Art Collectible a 1 of 1 NFT that is representative of the artwork they own, as well as a chance to claim the physical when it becomes redeemable.

OR they can sell it. The hope is that by being forced to hold the artwork they can also help increase the value of the artwork before it does get redeemed. It probably makes way more sense inside my head than I am able to convey in words.

So here's my first major project for these redeemables. Collect all 22 paintings as digital art collectibles, burn them to get a special card that holds 1 original horror themed painting from me. See it on my website here

To purchase these art cards you need DHC, which is also known as Da Horde's Coin. It's a WAX based token that members of the Horde can earn for free by working in the Horde's Discord

Buy the packs and open them up - all the links to do that are on my website here.

When you have enough DHC you can buy a pack that contains 2 of the 22 paintings. If you have enough DHC you can collect all 22 paintings and burn them in a crafting event to get an Original Art reveal pack. Inside the pack reveal is 1 of 22 preminted Digital Art Collectibles which is also redeemable for the actual physical artwork. The only stipulation to redemption is holding the digital art card until the redeemable date. For this case with the 22 paintings, you have to wait until 2025 before you can claim the artwork.

There are a few benefits to this method. One of the biggest benefits is to the Horde members themselves. Now they all have a way to earn some artwork just by being a part of the Horde and working in the Discord for DHC. Another benefit for Horde members is that they can own an original painting without actually having to own it. Holding the redeemable NFT is just as good as holding the physical work, only different. If they don't have the room or desire to actually have the painting in their possession, I will hold it for them with all my other artwork and ship it out when they are ready to claim. This gives the holder a chance to sell or trade the redeemable and maybe bring more value to the collection just by default. 10 or 20 years down the road this original artwork could be worth more than just a handful of DHC.

It's hard to say for certain, but someone once said to me ... imagine if you could own a redeemable artwork from a very popular artist before they got popular. Would it increase in value over time? Most likely, especially if it hasn't been redeemed.

This is sort of like that, though I'm not very famous or popular. I am working on it and I have a track record of a constant push and grind of my artwork across multiple blockchains so my overnight instant success is probably just a decade away.

Another benefit is that by getting people to hold the redeemables for a certain length of time, it gives me a chance to prep the mail, which is something I used to be good at but have since fallen out of practice.

It also just occured to me that by giving my artwork away, or selling it on the blockchain as NFTs, I can avoid setting up on websites like ETSY or even my Ko-fi page, thus avoiding platform fees. I can use the art for the redeemable, then reuse the art for some other collectible activities.

It's all 1 great big experiment and I'm trying everything I can to bring more of my artwork out in the world and directly into the hands of those that enjoy it and want to display my art to their friends and family. There are already some of you out there that now own a few of the redeemables.

That's really cool!

I do look forward to sending out my artwork because I have so much to send. So many paintings and drawings of all sorts of different sizes and styles need to get into the hands of those that appreciate the art, rather than sitting unseen in a plastic box. And one of the fun things for me as an artist is overstuffing the art parcels that I send out. I always try to give a little bit more than what you expect.

Are you ready to try to collect and burn to own an original artwork?

I also have some fun give aways ready to launch to help me spread the redeemable art around the world. Well I ran out of steam on this article and I'm sure I've probably missed the point, lost the thread and most of y'all might not even be reading this still.

But for those that are, I really appreciate you and if you leave a comment with your Wax Wallet id and tell your friends to give it a read, I'll do my best to airdrop you a free pack before November 2nd.

Lots of stuff to do so be sure to constantly check the artistbyron.ca website for all the upcoming events. I'm really trying to turn up the heat on everything I have done and the results are starting to trickle in. 2024 is really going to be a great year for the Horde.
