As I gradually became more knowledgeable about crypto, I learnt about the METAMASK Wallet and how it would help me level up my game. Coincidentally, a friend advised me to download one such wallet so that I could familiarise myself with the different kinds of blockchains and venture into the DeFi space. He suggested that I could for instance deposit my stablecoins into the Anchor protocol and reap the handsome profits (while they lasted).
But somehow I never got around to downloading a MetaMask wallet. If I have to reflect on my behaviour and pinpoint the reason, I guess I never did quite recover from how my iFARM tokens never arrived to MyCrypto.com wallet. I wasn't even sure why this happened even though I conscientiously followed all the steps. Perhaps it was because I didn't have Ethereum in the wallet to pay off the gas fee? But in any case, I harboured a certain suspicion and apprehension of crypto wallets. This created a mental block that forbade me from wanting to learn how to make use of the MetaMask wallet.
Thankfully, everything was about to change.
In collaboration with Jetcoin, PUBLISH0X is organising a writing competition that allows writers to understand how Jetcoin manages the promising careers of talented young sportsmen and entertainers through interactive NFTs based on their profiles. Here's the exciting part: The kind developers of Jetcoin implemented an NFT test on Rinkeby Testnet so that we writers could receive an NFT and gather invaluable first-hand experience.
I didn't even know that one could receive NFTs on the MetaMask wallet but I guess the novelty afforded by Jetcoin's gesture was enough for me to put aside my shame of having lost those iFARM tokens. So I downloaded the mobile app version of the wallet.
It turned out to be as easy as ABC. Literally. Because only three steps were involved in the creation of my wallet.
First, I designed a strong password.
Secondly, I secured my Secret Recovery Phrase.
Thirdly, I confirmed my Secret Recovery Phrase on the app.
And I was done! I was ready to receive both NFTs and tokens. I couldn't quite believe the installation process was so fuss-free. I realised that the mental block incurred by the loss of my iFARM tokens had spilled over to my reluctance to embrace new experiences. It was high time I let go of the shame and moved on.
Now waiting to receive my first ever NFT on the MetaMask wallet. I will do up a review once I explore its features.
