So many crypto faucets and sites use the term "Provably" and I am sure you figured out how that works out. If it was the 1990's and I was playing against the CPU in the original Mortal Kombat, I would argue that the way that my character's uppercuts seem to flow right through the CPU's model but his character is able to throw a harpoon through my block.... I would argue is "Provably fair". My brothers would say that the game cheats.
Most faucets that show the spinner will show that unlike the physics attached to a real spinner, like in Wheel of Fortune, a spinning wheel slowly slows down because of loss of energy. If the spinner gradually slowed down at a constant rate, even in a digital universe, then that would be listed as "Probably Fair". But instead, if you notice on "Provably Fair" spinners, the highlighted or won amount will sometimes stop right before it lands on a big win.
None of these Provably fair spinners are Fair. I would love to see the code for them. In school when I was learning code, we would get that Probably Fair spot by making a line which created a random integer from 1-50. If I programmed that the winning spots were every 10 spots, then a completely random number could land on any of those 5 spots and therefore be a winner. A 5 in 50 chance, means a 1:10 or a 10% chance of winning.
Provably fair code probably looks more like this: a random integer from 1-50, with a winning spot every 10. So the same initial chance, right? But then I would add a second line, after the first, in which after it comes up with a random integer, it would run another random integer from 1-10. I then say that if the new integer is either a 4 or 8, then flag the first integer. If the the unflagged first random integer is about to land on one of those 5 winning spots, it will stop on the number right before it. If the random first integer is flagged, meaning that it passed a verification test with that new number being 4 or 8, then it will make that one extra move and land on one of the 5 winning spots.
