If you haven't noticed, the price of the PRESEARCH Token (PRE) is in huge demand lately since the start of this week. The token's price has surged at most 637% since September 1, 2021 according to Coingecko. What could be the reason for this?
A Quick Look at Presearch Token
Presearch Token (PRE) is a reward token for Presearch. Presearch is a search engine alternative to Google which aims to be a decentralized as opposed to centralized search engines where your privacy might be breached. The Presearch Token is given to users who participate in the Presearch ecosystem by searching using the engine and staking a node. So What happened?
You might be wondering. What might have caused the sudden surge in the price? I was also shocked when I first saw this until I saw this article. The surge was due to the listing of the Presearch Engine as a default search engine option across all new and factory-reset Android devices across U.K. and Europe. This move by Google is a result of Google agreeing to provide more search engine providers on its default settings. (btw. Google is also fined 4.24 billion euros by the European Commission for unfairly using Android to solidify its dominance.... so here we are)
This meant more traffic for Presearch because it is now more accessible to the masses. This is truly a good step towards mass adoption. No wonder the token has surged this much.
What to Look Forward?
This milestone definitely brought legitimacy to the Presearch Engine as a viable search provider. This gains are nice for the token but I think it still has great potential. I am also excited for the future improvements in the ecosystem as indicated in their roadmap.
