Presearch node [ubuntu 20.04.1 lts] update!

Do repost and rate:

Hello, again it has been a while! In my last post titled Presearch Node [Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS], I walked through setting up a PRESEARCH node the old way. Let us just say the old way was a bit more technical and complicated. In fact, I did it for fun. But fun here was half informative and half banging my head against the keyboard. Don't worry there was no bloodshed while making the previous post. (And this one too)

Changes

To make things sweet and short the Presearch team has been busy working hard and releasing updates for Presearch nodes. In fact, it is now super easy to set up a node. It is so simple that it's not worth doing a whole post on it. Rather a summary shall suffice. The major changes to note are,

  • A FREAKING AUTO UPDATER :D
  • BUILT-IN DOCKER SERVICES!!

So what does this mean? It means you run this command if you use macOS/Linux,

docker stop presearch-node ; docker rm presearch-node ; docker stop presearch-auto-updater ; docker rm presearch-auto-updater ; docker run -d --name presearch-auto-updater --restart=unless-stopped -v /var/run/docker.sock:/var/run/docker.sock containrrr/watchtower --interval 300 presearch-node ; docker pull presearch/node ; docker run -dt --name presearch-node --restart=unless-stopped -v presearch-node-storage:/app/node -e REGISTRATION_CODE=YOUR_REGISTRATION_CODE_HERE presearch/node ; docker logs -f presearch-node

or if you use Windows then use this command.

docker stop presearch-node & docker rm presearch-node & docker stop presearch-auto-updater & docker rm presearch-auto-updater & docker run -d --name presearch-auto-updater --restart=unless-stopped -v /var/run/docker.sock:/var/run/docker.sock containrrr/watchtower --interval 300 presearch-node & docker pull presearch/node & docker run -dt --name presearch-node --restart=unless-stopped -v presearch-node-storage:/app/node -e REGISTRATION_CODE=YOUR_REGISTRATION_CODE_HERE presearch/node & docker logs -f presearch-node

That is all you do! One simple command. Of course, this is assuming you already have Docker installed and running.

A FREAKING AUTO UPDATER :D

This is a new docker service that will auto-update the Presearch node. That means I no longer have to manually login into my Linux box and run updates.

...whereas the presearch-auto-updater is responsible for automatically upgrading the presearch-node to the newest versions when released to ensure the node stays up to date and can continue to connect to the Presearch network.

BUILT-IN DOCKER SERVICES!!

What's so great about this??!?! Well, it means you set it up and can forget about it! Yup, background services.

The above command installs two services on your computer, the presearch-node and the presearch-auto-updater, and configure both of them to be always running in the background.

Conclusion

My fangirl rant is now over! If you have questions or comments post them below! As always thank you for your time and pardon my typos, Grammarly isn't perfect.

PEACE OUT!
