Multi-platform web browser Opera recently announced the integration of eight more blockchain ecosystems as part of a sustained Web3 push. The Norwegian platform, which already had Ethereum in its fold, will support Polygon, Celo, Solana, Ronin, StarkEx, Nervos DAO, IXO, and Bitcoin. All featured protocol systems will receive in-browser crypto wallet support from Opera, thereby presenting expanded options to users.

Furthermore, according to Opera Crypto Ecosystem Lead, Susie Batt, Opera’s desktop crypto browser can now also access Polygon. However, Batt assured the web browsing company was working towards eventual integration for the remaining listed blockchains. In addition, all protocol systems are also available for Opera on Android, with a yet-to-be-disclosed timetable for the iOS version.

Executive Vice President Mobile at Opera, Jorgen Arnesen, also spoke on the development. The EVP explained that Opera’s ultimate goal was to attract millions of users to Web3 in a seamless and environmentally-conscious way. Furthermore, Arnesen highlighted Opera’s more than 3-year journey in the Web3 space and how it has forged key partnerships along the way. The company’s executive concluded by asserting that Web3 is here to stay and should thus provide an enriching experience for users. As Arnesen put it:

“Ultimately, Web3 is on its way to becoming a mainstream web technology and users won’t need to know they’re interacting with it. They need to get a superior user experience and a true benefit.”
