The Polygon blockchain has not processed a new block in over an hour, leading to speculation that the Ethereum scaling chain might be experiencing an outage.

According to polygonscan, Polygon has not had a new transaction in over an hour. Polygon has not addressed the pause via any of its official channels.

The potential outage at Polygon comes just a day after Polygon Labs, the company behind the blockchain, laid off 20% of its staff, or almost 100 workers, as part of a consolidation move. The last time the chain suffered from an extended service outage was in March 2022.

Polygon Labs did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

This is a developing story and will be updated.

UPDATE (Feb. 22, 22:18 UTC): Added that Polygon Labs did not respond to a request for comment.
