Playing around in Cosmos again!

Well... it has been about well over half a year since I poked my head inside the Cosmos ecosystem. I've been more interested in the Ethereum Layer 2s, and the upcoming zk-EVMs as I really think that that is where the future is... and if you make a comment about Ethereum gas fees, then you really haven't really try to see where things are with the Optimistic Rollups (Arbitrum and Optimism) and are just parroting very very old alt-L1 talking points. The truth of the matter is Ethereum is evolving, and that is where the bulk of real development and capital lies.

Anyway, I have been really quite interested in the different ways that the networks have been trying to envision an interconnected future. And the chains that were making progress in this direction have always been Ethereum, Polkadot, and Cosmos. Ethereum I am pretty familiar with... and Polkadot has been a steaming mess of UI fail. In fact, I still have crowdloan tokens to claim... but I just CAN'T bring myself to get through the nightmare of interacting with Polkadot. Sure, it might have improved over the last year... but it has definitely left a really bad taste in my memory and there is that instinctive aversion. Sooner or later, I will have to just see what and how things are working over there... but other things seem more fun to do!

Meanwhile, Cosmos has been the real alternative to the Ethereum vision, and I will write more about that at some point in the near future. They have pursued a dApp-chain model, in contrast to the Ethereum general purpose L2s.... although, the Ethereum L3s that are coming down the line have more in common with specialised dApp-chains.

Anyway, I thought it was about time that I popped into the Cosmos ecosystem again to claim staked rewards and to see what else was new around there. Plus, it was long past time to do some on-chain sleuthing to sort out my crypto accounting with Cointracking. Honestly, I really have to more disciplined with that... it just builds up and then gets to be much less fun than it should be. I don't make that many transactions, as I'm not a trader or anything like that... but I just leave them until it is time to have a proper audit/accounting... and then it can get quite difficult with the amount of things that have built up over time and across chains. Pooop....

Anyway, having the single Keplr dashboard for interacting across the different dApp-chains is really a huge plus in favour of Cosmos. Polkadot's equivalent is a nightmare of data heavy nonsense... plus, it is slow. Cosmos is sleek and easy to parse... and has relevant links to throw you to dedicated block explorers and dApps. Ethereum could also have something similar... it is a nightmare to remember where all the different dApps are on all the different general purpose L2s! Even if you bookmark them in the browser. Really... the central point to point out to everything is REALLY REALLY REALLY GOOD! Cosmos has that part down as the winner!

Meanwhile, I did notice a few things that were interesting that I wanted to either create new stakes or up my stake in... and so I dutifully did that after shunting some extra ATOM out from , and then I also did my duty and voted on everything that needed voting on.

It was quite a busy hour, with lots of transactions logged... and I will start to explore the various airdrops that I should be eligible for (and hopefully haven't expired...) in the evening when I have a fresh mind!

But... yes, loving the Cosmos interface. The other interchain projects could really learn something from this Keplr interface!
