The Opera browser has added functionality that allows the user to pay bitcoin directly through the browser.
The new functionality, for now, will be available for Android and will allow users to make bitcoin payments directly from the browser-integrated digital wallet, as well as interacting with decentralized apps (Dapps) on the TRON blockchain. The company also released the iOS version- Opera Touch, which supports Ethereum protocol and Dapps that enables users to conduct transactions and interact within the browser.
Among today’s top browsers, Opera is the only one to integrate with a cryptocurrency wallet. Google Chrome and Safari don’t have this option yet.
Speaking with CoinDesk, Opera’s Cryptocurrency Chief, Charles Hamel said that because most people have heard of bitcoin, they considered that adding this feature was very important. Hamel, head of the crypto- operation at Opera, commented on the new feature launch:
“We believe that opening our browser to more blockchains, including Bitcoin, is the logical next step to making our solution more relevant to anyone who has a Bitcoin crypto wallet and would like to do things with their cryptocurrencies beyond just keeping them in an account.”
In April, Opera launched its new browser where the first cryptocurrency wallet was made available. The portfolio at the time only supported Ethereum (ETH) and some decentralized application interactions (DApps).
