NFT Tools for Finding Rarity

Do repost and rate:

I hope you are all well, welcome to CryptoGod-1’s blog on all things sports. Today I will be doing a quick list of some of the better sites available for figuring out the rarity of NFTs. While 2022 saw a sharp decline in Crypto in general, 2023 so far has seen a boost and will hopefully continue. As the same prepares to enter another bull run in the coming weeks, months, or years, likely the NFT space will encounter a similar hike. It is important when looking at NFT collections to understand the driving factors behind them, and hopefully this article will help in that matter.

NFT and Rarity

One of the most important questions when looking at a NFT collection is how to figure out a pieces, or collections, rarity. There are simple steps and tools one can take to discover this, although it is also important to understand the overall social impact will have a large say on whether or not a collection is successful. If you find a collection which looks like it could make it big, then the next important step is knowing which particular NFTs in the collection are considered the rarest.

Factors that impact a NFT's rarity are:

  1. Narrative and story behind it
  2. Limited Supply
  3. Use case (if any)
  4. General formula: ?

To score the rarity of a particular NFT the following formula should be applied:

1 / (Number of NFT's which contain the particular Trait Value / Total Number of NFT's in the Collection)

NFT Tools for Scoring Rarity

Now that we have a basic understanding of how a traits rarity can be calculated, I will look into a selection of websites which allow a user to discover a NFT's rarity information, its market statistics, and ways it can help to beat the overall market.

Rarity. Tools

https://rarity.tools/

One of the most used and most popular platforms when it comes to researching NFTs, Rarity.Tools was founded by Allen Hena as one of the pioneers of NFT scoring platforms, and was launched in April of 2021. It sorts the collections by volume, average price, and also shows collections available on the market. A user can click into a collection to see a page solely dedicated to the collection, displaying every item from the collection along with analysis. In depth specifications explaining the project and the variety of aspects within the project, the platform also applies a verified rarity score to each NFT.

The biggest drawback with the platform over the years has been its barriers to getting shown on the site. Projects are required to have a minimum losing price of around 2 ETH, along with another list of requirements to be met before their collection will be shown on the platform. This has hampered some smaller and less expensive projects getting shown on the site and limited new creators from getting their work showcased and scored.

Trait Sniper

https://app.traitsniper.com/

Trait Sniper was founded by Son Nguyen and is a platform used for 'snipping and flipping' NFTs. With over 110k followers on Twitter and 2 million plus monthly users, the platform offers an insight into rarity while also providing the latest and up to date information on new and upcoming NFT projects. Once a project is on the market, the app makes use of bots to assign a rarity to the NFTs and collection within around 30 seconds.

Users can subscribe for real-time updates along with integration of the app into METAMASK and OpenSea. This is intended to allow users to have the market knowledge before others, and be ahead of the game and market. The subscribed version also also for reveal requests and alerts, as well as filter by trait, rank and price.

Rarity Sniper

Rarity Sniper was co-founded by Aljosa Asanovic who also acts as the current CTO. The platform promises users a friendly and sleek user interface along with accommodating Ethereum, Solana, Polygon, BINANCE and around 18 different blockchains overall. The site has around 2,000 collections currently listed on the it, while also featuring redirects to a high number of marketplaces where the NFT's are on sale. The site provides the rarity scores, ranks, and general traits of the NFTs and collections, along with having strong Twitter and Discord communities.

Rarity Sniper has given itself the self appointed title of the “#1 Source for NFT Rarity,” the platform is aiming to become more than just a rarity tools site. It wants to provide users with full analytics, news outlet, and a drop calendar allowing users to keep up with the ever changing industry.

Moon Rank

https://moonrank.app/

A NFT rarity tool for the Solana Blockchain, MoonRank was created in 2021 and current has just under 10,000 followers on Twitter. The platform makes use of a statistical rarity methodology to score NFTs, making sure to never apply any convoluted or hidden calculation methods. They rank and index new collections in real time with no manual input.

The platform itself allows users to order items within a collection by its rarity score, date of minting, and date of any changes made to them. However, the platform stays away from ranking via price as it has no links to marketplaces via its platform. Therefore it is a ranking tool only, and maintains zero affiliation with NFT trading platforms. All the data provided is sourced directly from the Solana Blockchain and every collection is ranked in exactly the same way.

Rarity Sniffer

https://raritysniffer.com/

Rarity Sniffer is a platform which accesses and scores a variety of NFT collections as soon as they are released upon the blockchain. Released in 2021 and over 45k followers on Twitter, the platform also finds out information on upcoming NFT collects before they drop. It gives up to date and rapid access to NFT ratings, scores, and rarity of individual NFTs and overall collections. It does this via its own specific algorithm which ranks the NFTs and collections on their traits and popularity to give a rarity score.

The platform claims to have over 10,000 NFT collections listed and which its primary focus is Ethereum there is scope for expansion. Currently the platform directs users to the price and listings on listing on OpenSea.
