Given that some industry sources estimate that the market value of the non-fungible token (NFT) exceeded $ 2 billion in the last quarter, several ongoing projects aim to expand NFTs to genetics, using technology to facilitate trade. with grain or promoting NFT in Hollywood.

In preparation for the implementation of NFT technology in genetics, Harvard Medical School professor of genetics George Church is to auction his genome as NFT. Church, which succeeded in developing the first system for direct genomic sequencing in 1984, will create one of the first genomes to be sequenced. The auction will take place through Nebula Genomics, a company he co-founded, Church told The Scientist. The date of the auction will be announced today, April 25, 2021, by National DNA Day.

Expanding the use of NFT technology, the Swiss start-up Cerealia has started using non-fungible chips for the grain trade. The company created a sustained token of 30,000 tons of corn to reduce costs and improve supply chain transparency, according to information obtained by Bloomberg.

During this year's Oscars, another online marketplace project Rarible, Metaversal, and AdVenture Media aimed to promote NFTs by distributing them to 25 of the 115 nominees for this year's ceremony. They received three NFTs each. The chips were offered to nominations in categories such as Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Director. Among the plays is an NFT created as a tribute to American actor Chadwick Boseman. Proceeds from the Boseman NFT tribute will go to the New York Colon Cancer Foundation.

The NFT explosion will come in the next 2 years and will create jobs, say those in the cryptocurrency industry.

Industry experts told the BlockDown 4.0 conference that an "explosion" of NFT use is expected in the next two years.

The comments were made at a panel session of the conference called "NFTs and Metaverse: the most ambitious trend in cryptocurrencies?" During this panel, the CEO and co-founder of Sandbox, Sebastien Borget, said that " a longer-term strategy is needed " in the field of non-fungible chips. He said an increase in " gaming and portable NFTs " as well as the emergence of other uses of the technology could lead to an " explosion " in the use of non-fungible chips in the next two years, and experts believe all this will lead to creating new jobs. Borget said that as the ecosystem grows, so does the need for content creators and curators, who could "it helps guide people through virtual worlds ”.
