SuperRare, a non-fungible token marketplace for digital art, shared on Friday that it recently hit a new weekly sales record.

According to the announcement, between December 2 and December 8, SuperRare saw more than 456 ETH (~$64.6K) spent on new placed bids and buys across the platform.

Additionally, on December 10, the platform set another major milestone, with artist melDUARTE breaking the single-sale Ethereum record by selling a piece titled “Boooo!!” to Moderats for 11.536 ETH. This record was subsequently demolished on December 15 when Moderats’ bid of 72.1 ETH (worth $9,954.70 at the time) for “EthGirl” was accepted by Trevor Jones.

These new records follow a larger trend of sales and transaction growth on SuperRare, as shown by data from NFT analytics site NonFungible.

As a result of the surge in demand and the resulting user feedback, SuperRare has announced plans to revamp its auction system.

“After lots of discussions this week with both artists and collectors we’re excited to announce that we’re now in the R&D phase of a complete overhaul to the bidding and auctions system,” states the team. “The goal is to continue upgrading features on SR to make it the clear best and most fun place to collect and trade #CryptoArt.”
