MyEtherWallet Set to Give Users Access to .Crypto Blockchain Domains

Popular Ethereum wallet app, MyEtherWallet, is giving its users access to .crypto domains, right from within the wallet. The new feature is possible through a partnership with Unstoppable Domains, a blockchain domain company.

Blockchain domains help websites to ease up the process of running cryptocurrency payments, and also ensure that these websites are resistant to censorship. For these websites, the domain is held with a wallet and not a centralized outfit as is obtainable with regular sites. MyEtherWallet currently has 1 million active monthly users, who will soon have unfettered access to the decentralized web, thanks to the partnership.

Speaking on the new feature, MyEtherWallet COO Brian Norton said:

“MyEtherWallet has long served as a portal to the world of DeFi through DApps like MakerDAO and Aave. As an Unstoppable Domains .crypto registrar, we are also giving users an easy option for engaging with the decentralized web.”

The domain will be offered via smart contracts by Unstoppable Domains on the Ethereum network. It functions differently from the Ethereum Name Service (ENS), which is responsible for .eth domains.

Because of their basic framework, regular web browsers do not support .crypto websites. They may only be explored using specific browsers. Late last month, Opera entered a partnership with Unstoppable Domains, to support .crypto domains.
