My Introduction Into This Space

First and foremost, let me start this entire blog off by saying that I am solely interested in NFTS, Crypto and a dabbling interest into the Metaverse. I can say that I'll primarily be writing about my investments, my research and my steps into this space, but as life has a way of working itself out, things may change. I am not being paid for my views! If anything, I am paying these groups and organizations in order to actually have a say in what goes on. If in the future someone wants to hear my opinion on certain things, and there happens to be a price tag attached, I'll let you know, but as it stands, the posts that you will read here will be solely based on my opinion, my experiences and genuine interest in this space.

I come from a cultural background, one involved in hip-hop, EDM, live-shows and things like that. I wandered into politics for quite some time, and some of that still lingers in me today, but after listening to a couple of people who weren't in my inner circle discuss these things called "NFTs". I had to go do some research, and after several weeks of scouring social media platforms, forums, YouTube/Odysee channels, I think I have a fair grasp. Kidding! Because more is developing in this space every single day!

So, after wetting my whistle with the world, it seems I've found myself staring into cyberspace. It's a trip. Understanding NFTs themselves could take the better part of a year and destroy my finances at the same time, but given the current climate of everything that's going on, I think now more than ever it's important to become a little more versatile and diverse in your thinking and approach. My aim with investing, learning and researching NFTs is to eventually create my own. I'm coming in at a time where people are mentioning the "NFT Winter", and to be quite honest, I'm excited! I'll speak more about the NFT Winter - and NFT Spring - in a subsequent article, however with this post I'd just like to get the readers acquainted with their author.

I'm not a financial expert by any means, or a big time trader, or a whale in any space. I really am just a random dude that finds this stuff deeply fascinating and I want to share with you my discoveries. I'm hoping that by writing these posts, people will either come to appreciate the diversity of the space, or just appreciate being a part of my journey, because who knows where it goes. I've dabbled in spaces like ETH and BTC, but after losing over $2K on OpenSea, I thought it better to re-evaluate my position. I don't know how, but I ended up on the Solana Blockchain. I'll speak more about the differences in these chains, their eco-systems and the communities behind them in a separate piece. I'm sure I'll have someone who actually has more familiarity with all of these spaces correct me, and I hope so! Because knowledge is power and I want to learn more.

It seems like, to me, Solana isn't as exclusive as some of the other blockchains. I consider ETH and BTC to be the big money of blockchain and so it excludes people from playing. People hear the words Bitcoin and Ethereum and they immediately switch to what they think they don't know, and after delving into Solana, it really is plug-and-play. The reason why I'm pushing Solana at the moment isn't because of TVL or their market cap, it's because in that eco-system I've found people to be a lot more helpful. Solana seems to be the blockchain for creatives, where it houses people who want to create games, apps and more. Whenever I learn about DeFi (Decentralized Finance) and GameFi (Gamified Finance) I'll speak more on, but this also seems to be a core characteristic of Solana, which is another reason why I'm interested in this chain since it's primarily full of creatives.

Again, this comes from about 2 months of research and investing. I lost about ~$2k on OPENSEA after someone "transferred" my NFT from my account on OpenSea to their account - without notifying me. I lost the OpenSea NFTs and drifted somehow into Solana. I found a few other NFTs like BotsLife and Tekika, and Tekika felt sketchy off the go. It wasn't a rugpull, but it definitely wasn't going anywhere, anytime soon, and that's not what I had heard or what I wanted to be a part of. I wanted my money to be a part of a vision and I also wanted my investment to compensate me. This is where finding an NFT with utilities comes into place, and things like the aforementioned NFT Winter.

All of these things and more will be part of this blog. This is just the introduction, as far as I'm concerned. I hope you see how I got here, why I wanted to start this blog and my hopes at the same time. My intention isn't to sway you or impress you with my knowledge, if anything, it's to show you that there's regular people here too. And remember team, WAGMI.
