My first experience as a NFT creator

Do repost and rate:

I’ve been hearing about NFTs for a while now, but I never fully understood it up to the point I decided to dive into its world. I’m a bit of a noob when it comes to the crypto world, but after hearing about Binance’s NFT competition, I decided to open up my mind a little bit more and give it a shot. And you know what, I was really excited about it!

What you might have guessed by the name of this blog, I’m a ballet dancer. So if you’re a NFT enthusiast, you already know the spoiler. After scrolling through some of the existing NFTs at bakeryswap, I didn’t really find anything related to the performing arts there. Yeah, I was quite disappointed and a bit discouraged about making one. In my mind I thought that there wouldn’t be a public for my kind of art there. So then what would be the point of it?

But you know what? There was this BINANCE competition I mentioned at the beginning and there were prizes worth up to $600! So why not try? haha Why not just completely dive into the unknown? The world is always evolving and things change so fast. We will never know if something works if we don’t try it, right? So, yes, I decided to make my own NFT.

I also realized that it can be literally anything! So there’s only walls in your way if you put them there!

I wanted to do something that would catch the eyes of anyone who passed through it, even if they're not really into the ballet world. And as a requirement for the competition, I had to implement a Binance reference into my work. So I decided to make a static piece inspired by the word Binance.

The NFT creation process

To create my piece I had to take several shots of myself, by myself. So you can imagine the hustle going for that 10 seconds camera timer haha After missing out a few times the right second to get into my pose for the shots, I ended up deciding to go for the slow motion video, that way I could take my time. I know, not the most professional way to do it, but as I couldn't know the exact time the shot was going to be taken with the timer, this was my best option.

I had a lot of fun in this creative process. Figuring out the right poses to create the shapes I was looking for, was definitely one of the highs of the whole process. Ok, it was actually the most enjoyable part, but perhaps I'm a bit biased, since this is the part where I implement my job and passion into my piece.

The next step was to cut out digitally the shapes I made and put them together to form my final piece! I was actually very excited! This was also by far the longest part of the creation. I didn't really time it how long it took me, but it was something around 6 hours.

With this done, the only thing that was left to do was putting everything together and finally creating my FIRST EVER NFT!

Seeing it all come together felt really good! I was very happy with the final edition. What I didn't realize was that a NFT has a specific aspect ratio. And of course my work wasn't inside its parameters. When I tried uploading it to bakeryswap, it completely distorted my piece to fit the right size, and my soul was crushed. All that work, all those hours….

But honestly, during my life, especially in my ballet career, I often find myself in unexpected situations, where I need to make it work, no matter what. So that's what I did. I looked up the exact aspect ratio needed and rebuilt my piece inside it. And, honestly, I think it actually made it look better and I'm really happy about it!

I minted my first ever NFT

So that's it guys! I minted my first ever NFT! Although I still don't have all the knowledge on the NFT world and I had to get some extra help for all the technical parts of minting it, I'm pretty happy with the outcome and I'm glad I did it! I will for sure do further research on it and probably upload more of my work into the Blockchain!

This first one is called Through the soul of a ballet dancer.

So my message for all the creators out there, no matter from which industry, I truly recommend trying to open up your mind and create a NFT. If not for its perks, for the challenges and the process! There is space for EVERYONE there!
