The Giant technology company Microsoft released the beta version of their decentralized identity tool dubbed ION on the Bitcoin network to be primarily tested by the public.
The ION tool offered by Microsoft will enable a better ownership for digital identity credentials which will create exclusive identifiers that can only be cryptographically verified that will strength the information from users and verify and also verify possible identities from other users using public key infrastructure.
Using ION over the decentralized Blockchain of bitcoin will also limit reliance of big centralised firms of technology such as Facebook and Google. The ION project have been developed by Microsoft in association with the Decentralized Identity Foundation (DIF)-a corporation dedicated to built decentralized identity systems.
The ION tool won't need to operate with Microsoft protocols as decentralized can operate independent from the technology company, its a useful tool that doesn't have own validators nodes and will be completely relying on Bitcoin network to verify transactions.
In the pilot phase of the decentralized identity tool the ION will have support from Casa startup, Bitpay, Gemini to run nodes and provide feedback to Microsoft.
The ION tool is a great tool to identify transactions that are suspicious and track them to be able to recover stolen funds or arrest the criminals involved on the transaction, it will be for much help and will be running all in decentralized way!
