Software crypto wallet MetaMask is integrating with crypto payment gateway Bitfinex Pay to facilitate payments for millions of users. The integration went live on Friday, and allows METAMASK users to send and receive crypto payments by logging into their wallets. In addition, merchants who wish to accept payments via Bitfinex Pay, must first undergo an account registration process with Bitfinex. Upon successful completion of the phase, merchants would be able to integrate Bitfinex Pay on their websites.
Chief technology officer of Bitfinex Pay Paolo Ardoino, said MetaMask’s wallet is found everywhere in the “digital token space.” Ardoino said this in reference to the former’s far-reaching user base and pivotal role in bringing countless users to DeFi.
MetaMask has existing partnerships with three crypto-centric custodians, namely BitGo, Qredo, and Cactus Custody, according to Cointelegraph. Furthermore, the main focus of these alliances is to bring more institutional capital to crypto, a trend that is already beginning to take shape and shows no signs of letting up anytime soon. MetaMask’s partnership with BITGO in particular is noteworthy, because Galaxy Digital acquired the latter earlier this year in May. The crypto and blockchain-oriented financial services and investment manager paid $1.2 billion in stock and cash.
As digital assets become more mainstream, the general consensus is that demand for crypto payment gateways will also increase.
