Metamask founding architect announces new Metaverse interoperability project

Joel Dietz, the founding architect of Ethereum wallet Metamask, has announced a new project that seeks to enhance metaverse interoperability as the sector continues to see massive interest and investment.

Dubbed “MetaMetaverse” Dietz’s project is a layer 1 protocol that offers native cross-chain transactability. It also provides for a programming language for multiple metaverse functionality, according to an announcement shared with Invezz.

The “language” of the protocol will allow users to map human experiences on coordinates to create parallel realities. MetaMetaverse will also allow for the running of games (with support for simulations).

Build your own metaverse and sell it (if you want)

According to Dietz, the “metaverse is ten times bigger than crypto,” with the sector set to expand even further over the next 30 years. He notes that within this period, the Metaverse will feature a design of “every building in every city.”

We are building the protocol that will allow the higher end assets and clear business use cases to be supported,” he added.

In this case, MetaMetaVerse provides for a Metaverse-as-service feature. Here, owners can access the tools they need to create their own metaverses.  To benefit more from their investment, owners can choose to subdivide and sell their virtual worlds to others within the ecosystem.

Users will also access a marketplace for metaverses. This will see owners easily sell lands as well as items from within their custom-created virtual worlds.

MetaShips for metaverse travel

The MetaMetaverse offers another great addition to the owning of a metaverse- the MetaShip. It’s the technology that allows owners to travel and experience other metaverses. The MetaShips are upgradable for enhanced functionality.

Metaverse owners might want to know that 1,000 lucky winners get airdropped MetaShip this March. The entry is via a social media program.

A pioneer of crypto-economics

The project is Dietz’s re-entry into crypto following a year’s “retirement.” One of his major crypto contributions was around the design, development and rollout of Metamask. The software wallet recently hit 30 million active users and is reportedly planning a token launch.

Dietz is also a pioneer of crypto economics, with a footprint in legal standards across top academic institutions including Harvard and MIT. He also helped create Germany’s first regulated DeFi protocol called Swarm.

MetaMetaVerse secured $2 million in a seed round last December, with financing from top investors in the space such as DAO Maker, Neon, and Ghaf Capital. Others were Metaverse Group, Router Protocol, Polygon Studios, 3Commas Capitaland CV Labs.
