Litecoin Latest: Mimblewimble Update Gives Nod to Privacy

Do repost and rate:

Developer David Burkett has announced that the Mimblewimble Extension Blocks (MWEB) feature is now "code complete".  This particular development for LTC will enhance privacy and fungibility for the well-known crypto.

He announced the push on Twitter 16th March, having submitted the code for review on GitHub the day prior but further clarified that "....this is only the libmw code. There's another ~40% of the code not in this review, since github is already struggling to handle this PR due to its size. After everyone has thoroughly reviewed this code, the second half of the code will be submitted."

What is Mimblewimble - what does it do?

Mimblewimble is an optional feature which, when used, would render LTC transactions fairly untraceable.  This brings LTC closer in market placement to brands like Monero vs other well-known cryptos such as BTC.    Any concerns about whether or not this might impact the coin's value or availability seem to have been addressed; the team feels confident that exchanges will not delist LTC as a result, having consulted with major platforms beforehand and been assured of the same.

The Litecoin Foundation describes MimbleWimble via Blockchain Extension as follows:

"...it will provide the benefit of hiding transaction amounts and improve scalability due to its ability to compact transactions. MWEB has the ability to scale better than Litecoin and Bitcoin while also having the side benefit of acting as a block size increase on the main chain without there actually being one."
