Popular restaurant chain Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) is going the blockchain way and has deployed a pilot program in the Middle East. KFC aims to use this to improve advertising on digital platforms, as well as media buying.

KFC, through the pilot, hopes to demonstrate the advantages of blockchain. This will help the company with its data processing needs, proper channeling of its advertising budget, as well as adequate penetration and spreading the word, to help its visibility.

The blockchain, as expected, will also help security and privacy as information on it cannot be tampered with. Furthermore, the blockchain use will help to prevent and also discourage any occurrences of fraud. This is highly anticipated because all information including ad placement will be updated in real-time, and will be visible to all players.

KFC Chief Marketing Officer Ozge Zoralioglu said:

“KFC can now benefit from enhanced visibility of real-time data and the most updated insights – all with full confidence that information is authenticated, tamper-proof and hence credible.”

In January 2018, KFC Canada introduced a Bitcoin Bucket, allowing customers to buy the new offering, straight from their Bitcoin wallets. At the time, it cost 20 Canadian dollars.

In December 2018, KFC in Venezuela announced it would begin receiving DASH as payment.
