Just is a basket of DeFi applications running on the semi-centralized Tron blockchain. It provides its own stablecoin and a lending protocol, it also offers its own decentralized exchange and oracle. Participating in DeFi on Tron is much cheaper than on Ethereum, so it is a possible alternative for people that don't have thousands of dollars’ worth of crypto to send with each transaction.
You can think of and JustStable as Trons version of Aave and , or as Trons version of Venus from the BINANCE Smart Chain. You can mint a stablecoin called USDJ by leaving TRX as a collateral. You can also deposit 12 other cryptocurrencies to earn interest on them or to use them as collateral to borrow another supported token.
The reason why anyone would take such a loan is to get liquidity without having to sell an asset they are bullish on. Another use case would be to short a token, basically if you think one crypto will rise in value and another one will fall then you can borrow the bearish crypto and sell it for another token before then eventually buying it back for a lower price.
However, such loans are always risky because should the value of your collateral change and no longer cover for your loan, you will get liquidated and you lose your deposited coins. The interest rate for both supplying and borrowing is variable and depends on how high the supply and demand for loans with it are.
Another feature is JustSwap, which is a decentralized exchange for Tron assets. There is JustLink, which is an oracle that other Tron applications can use to get off chain data. Finally, there is also JustCryptos, which is a centralized bridge that works via the partnered Poloniex exchange. The bridge currently entirely runs via a centralized exchange, so it’s not DeFi at all, but this might change in the future.
Just is not just one application on Tron, but a collection of applications that are all using the same DAO and token. JustLend is one of the most used dApps on its blockchain could get many more users if more people get attracted by Trons low fees.
The JST Token
JST is the governance token of the entire Just ecosystem. Holders can vote on possible changes for the protocol of every application that belongs to Just.
There is a maximum supply of 9.9 billion tokens. 19% of the supply went to the development team, 15% were sold to investors, 26% were used for strategic partnerships, 10% were airdropped to TRX holders and 30% were set aside for ecosystem incentives to reward people that provide funds to the Just network. The specifics for the token distribution, like the vesting schedule, is currently unknown.
The distribution is honestly far from optimal. Uniswap gave 60% of its supply to the users and Yearn Finance even gave them 100%, meanwhile Just is setting aside 30% for them. Still you can earn them for free by depositing some funds on JustLend where you can earn a decent APY.
The value of JST depends on how much money is in the Just smart contracts. Since it offers a lot of useful tools and has low fees it could attract many more users. The success of Just also depends on how well performs and while it does have low fees it is also rather centralized. If you do want to invest in Tron anyway, then you should move some of your TRX into JustLend to earn some JST.
