Jungle Freaks, Doodles, and the Party Ape Billionaire Club are this weeks’ hot collections featured in NFT Spotlight. Bored Ape Yacht Club continues holding on to the top spot in NFT collectors’ hearts, however, new contenders are surfacing daily.

Jungle Freaks
Jungle Freaks is a collection of 10.000 Ethereum-based NFTs hand-drawn by famous cartoonist George Trosley. Depicting various interpretations of gorillas and zombies, Trosley incorporated his years of experience as a cartoonist for Hustler Magazine to make the collection stand out. With more than 42.000 Twitter followers, and about the same number of Discord members, the Jungle Freaks are on their way to create an enviable community.
Jungle Freaks dropped on October 15th and sold out in a matter of hours. The mint price for a Jungle Freak NFT was 0.07 ETH. Since selling out, the floor price for one of these freakish NFTs is now 0.82 ETH. That’s a solid jump in a matter of just days.
The main driver of activity for Jungle Freaks is the ambitious roadmap for the collection. Aside from official milestone giveaways, the team also wants to support charities and humanitarian organizations. In addition, George Trosley and his confidants gave away 5 ETH when 50% of the collection was minted. They also announced numerous airdrops of additional NFTs for Jungle Freak holders.
What is more, the team announced that it will auction off Jungle Freak #8. The proceeds from this auction will go to a Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation. The starting price for the auction is 1.3 ETH.
Doodles
Doodles is an Ethereum-based collection of 10.000 scribbly avatar NFTs created by Burnt Toast, a Canada-based illustrator, designer, and animator. Burnt Toast, or Scott Martin, has worked with big brands like Google, WhatsApp, and Snapchat, but has now turned his attention to the NFT space.
The Doodles NFT collection dropped on October 17th, with a mint price of 0.123 ETH. While this is a relatively high mint price, the collection sold out quickly and is now only available on secondary markets. Impressively, just three days after mint, the floor price for a Doodles NFT has already surpassed 1 ETH.
Considering Burnt Toast’s popularity, the Doodles collection has attracted a wave of interested NFT enthusiasts. At the time of writing, the official Doodles Twitter account boasts more than 40.000 followers. What’s more, according to DappRadar data, more than 5000 collectors have interacted with the Doodles collection smart contracts in the past three days. This is a serious signal of the level of interest the collection is attracting.
One of the main points of attraction for the Doodles community is the fact that the project will be entirely community-governed. According to the official website, holding a Doodle allows collectors to participate in coordinating the Doodles Community Treasury. This treasury stores 420 ETH from the public sale. Consequently, holders can vote on how this fund is used. The team could create experiences, activations, and campaigns that benefit the Doodles community.

The Party Ape Billionaire Club
Last but not least for this week’s NFT Spotlight we have a very literal Bored Ape Yacht Club challenger. Admittedly, the similarities between the Billionaire Club and BAYC are there, mostly because both collections are centered around apes. On the other hand, this might be the most successful path to overtaking the BAYC throne.
The Party Ape Billionaire Club is a collection of 10.000 Ethereum-based NFTs. Each NFT depicts an ape with a randomly generated selection out of 180 hand-drawn traits. The Billionaire Club is highly focused on creating utility and usability for collectors and the community. According to the official Discord, which has more than 74.000 members, the team will focus on organizing multiple events across the globe. Additionally, strong marketing campaigns will push to bring value to holders.
Interestingly, the Billionaire Club roadmap includes an ambitious plan for the launch of an MMORPG featuring the characters from the NFTs. While this is still in the early stages of development, Billionaire Club NFT owners are already benefiting from other perks. For example, holders of special edition Billionaire Club NFTs are entitled to a monthly deposit worth $500 each month.
Aside from raffles and giveaways for the community, the Billionaire Club team is also dedicated to helping other organizations. The team dedicated $30,000 for a charity donation when 60% of the collection sells. The Billionaire Club community was the one to chose the specific charity for this.
The Party Ape Billionaire Club might carry a striking similarity to BAYC. However, it seems the NFT community is loving that. According to DappRadar data, the collection saw more than 5000 thousand unique wallets interact with its smart contracts since the public sale on October 16th. The Billionaire Club NFTs were minted via a Dutch auction style, and the lowest mint price was 0.01 ETH. Since the collection sold out, the floor price on secondary markets is now 0.36 ETH.
Bored Ape Yacht Club strengthens its position
While contenders for the throne are popping up all the time, Bored Ape Yacht Club remains a true leader in the NFT space. In the past seven days, the collection saw its trading volume increase by more than 18% reaching a total of $18.6 million.
What is more, the collection keeps recording sales for exorbitant amounts. For example, just hours ago, Bored Ape #8585 sold for upwards of $2.69 million. That’s an impressive achievement and as the team announced the revamped roadmap for the collection, the trend is probably going to keep climbing.
Even so, it is always interesting to look beyond the top grossers. It’s interesting to find hidden gems among the waves of new collections popping up.
