I was scrolling thru the App Store and I came across the "Orange Pill App

So I did a little research and wanted to share with you peeps!

On November 10th 2022, the Orange Pill App launched on Apple's App Store, and will launch on Android devices sometime in December.

The goal of this application is connect you with other Bitcoiners in your area.

Similar to other location-based application, this app will use your geolocation to connect you with nearby users.

When you first download and register your email, you will be given 10,000 satoshis...this is basically where the "pros" end and the "cons" begin.

After completing your profile, you will be prompted to choose a Subscription plan: $2.99 Monthly or $19.99 Yearly.

Users can also choose to Sponsor users in El Salvador, so they can use Orange Pill App for free.

To be honest, I was really caught off guard that I was asked to subscribe before even trying out the application

One of the main issues I have with Application right out the gate, is that it requires you to pay a monthly subscription in order to use it.

This is already a deal-breaker for me, as there should at least be a free trial to allow new users to test it out and see if they actually like it.

Asking for money up-front, without giving users a chance to check it out, is not a great business plan in my opinion

Orange Pill App says on there website's FAQ that the reason you should pay for the app is this:

As the saying goes: "if something is free you are the product". As you can imagine building, mantaining and promoting an app is very expensive. By asking everybody to pay to use the app we eliminate the noise (bots, scams, shitcoiners, fake account, etc...) and we will never have to track or sell your data to the highest bidder.

It seems that there reasoning is that it is expensive to run the app, and they will never track or sell your information.

While I do appreciate them stating they will not track or sell user information, I kind of don't trust it.

What would stop them from doing so? Their promise?

We have seen how company's break their promises all the time...especially with the recent collapse of crypto exchanges.

What do you peeps think?

Is this app going to sink or swim?

I would love to see it do well, but I don't see it happening to be honest.
