BTFS is an ipfs-like distributed cloud storage. But there's a major difference : it allows earning BTT rewards while hosting files. I've set up my node yesterday, so I can't tell you earnings (probably in some weeks).
Btw let's go !
1 - download btfs daemon
BTFS daemon official release grabbed here : https://github.com/TRON-US/go-btfs/releases/latest
If you're lazy (like me xD), you can download current release (v1.5.1) directly here (win32, win64, linux 32-bits, linux 64 bits).
note : Release in this article can be outdated. If you read this article long after release date, please double-check it !
2 - put it in your bin directory (so you won't have to call full path)
On windows : copy freshly downloaded file to a directory (like C:\users\
I advise renaming file to btfs for command lenght reason.
On linux : copy file to /usr/bin/btfs (for example, with command cp
note : admin/root rights might be required
3 - Initial setup
Open a terminal and enter the following commands :
btfs init
btfs config profile apply storage-host
and then (only on linux), you will have to keep this command in background
btfs daemon
4 - Setting up node directory (gui)
Then, you can open node admin webpage (http://127.0.0.1:5001/hostui), and finish setup !
You will have to choose directory where you will put files, storage space to allocate and setup a wallet (for receiving BTT payouts)
5 - Only wait a bit
For preventing frauds (like fake nodes), you has to wait some hours before your node gets validated.
6 - Your node is ready
Now just enjoy BTT earnings !
