How To Make A Profit From Blockchain Games

Do repost and rate:

You need two things and two things only to start making not just money but a profit from playing blockchain games.

That's it. The end. Show's over.

Unless you want some more specifics...

This information comes from the BC games I've been playing the last 3 months, which include:

Star Atlas

Defi Kingdoms

Splinterlands

Legion Network

Blockchain Games can be a bit of a buzzword at the moment, like metaverse and Web 3.0. But just because people are talking about them doesn't mean they are that great. People talk about the Kardashians all the time, but we all know the world would be better off without them.

Blockchain Games might be popular now, with the emergence of Play 2 Earn and all its variations, but they are hardly fully developed. Most BC games are still in pre-alpha, meaning they barely have a game concept to demo to investors or players. Most of them are still in the chalkboard phase. So even though they might be popular now, in their larval stage, they will only be more impressive when they actually have game mechanics and elements to showcase.

However, just because they are still formulating their gaming experience doesn't mean they aren't raking in millions of dollars.

Defi Kingdoms

Just look at Defi Kingdoms (DFK). The "game" can hardly call itself such, there are barely any game mechanics in it. It's essentially an investment website that's been pixelated to look like a Super Nintendo game. But in order for you to do anything in DFK, you need to pony up a large bit of money.

DFK works like this: you purchase a hero NFT from the tavern. You use this hero to complete quests. You level them up as they quest. The end. If you have more than one hero, you can mate them together to get more heroes, and if you have lots of heroes you can obviously go on lots of quests. But one hero is going to set you back at least $400 at the time of writing this, not including marketplace and gas fees. And that's just hero. Not much you can do with that.

There are also the gardens and the bank, which take more money. There is an alchemist that can combine items to make potions for you, but the potions are pretty pointless.

"Here's a potion to cure blindness! ...There's absolutely zero chance your hero could possibly be blinded from any activity in the game, but here it is nonetheless!"

So, dump about $1,000 into DFK, be sure to check back twice a day to gather your heroes from their quests, and maybe in a year, you'll break even. Maybe. It's not exactly passive income if you have to work at it twice a day.

two good things going for DFK. The first is their vibrant and active discord. They have a fairly welcoming community, if you stick to the right discord channels, and you can earn legit tokens from tips from other users. It's a good place to join contests, read their announcements, and see what other players are frustrated over. The game is also constantly tweaking their quests, nerfing some and buffing others, so being active in the discord can help you understand what changes are coming down the pipeline.

The second thing it has going for it is while DKF is a horrible "game", it's actually a quite good investment platform. If you're not looking to play/game, this is a good bet to just HODL some of your coins. DFK native token, , has a pretty good track record, which is one hell of a double-edged sword; your investment could go up, but so could the floor price for a single hero. In December, the price for a single hero was over . So... yeah. Might as well get a PS5 and a few new games for that price.

Another game released to the public WAY too early. You know what you can do in Farsite? Pretty much nothing. You can share the word about FARSITE in order to gain points that add some extra equipment to your starting ship. You can invest your money to get hulls and guns and mining rigs for your ship. Can you do anything with your ship yet? No.

The game is still rolling out updates periodically, with planets and mining zones and warp stations being the latest. But it's painfully empty still. There's no interaction with other players, there's nothing to do. Last time I logged in, I took my ship out of the starter space station, a new feature they recently added, and was able to warp around their universe. It's huge. It's . Multiple solar systems with multiple planets and multiple locations. It may not have much playability at the moment, but if they can fill the massive shoes they've put in front of themselves, Farsite could be an impressively large experience... in 2 years when they finally roll out the full game.

(Splinterlands pictures wouldn't load)

Splinterlands

Now, this is just my opinion of Splinterlands. Lord knows there are plenty of people who love the hell out of the game, have quit their jobs to play it full time, and can look at all the profits they've raked in. But after playing SPLINTERLANDS every day for 3 weeks straight, in my humble opinion, it's a stupid game. It's just not enjoyable

Spent about 30-40 mins a day grinding out wins. Won my daily quests, worked my way up a few leagues. And at no point did I ever actually enjoy the time I spent. I never got a euphoric feeling when I won, I never fell in love with any cards, I never looked forward to playing. It was tedious and a chore more than anything. The good thing about it is you don't have to pay much money to start playing or even to rent out some powerful cards.

I will say, however, of pretty much all the games on this list, Splinterlands is the most fleshed-out game. You can actually play it. It has plenty of mechanics to master and degrees to learn. It's an actual game, unlike DFK. It's just... not a very good game. Not to mention the cartoony art of all the cards. I mean, this game has hundreds of millions of dollars invested in it, and it looks like college interns did the artwork.

That said, Splinterlands playable, they have lots of tournaments, you can join guilds to team up with other players, and their discord has plenty of players to walk you through your deck and set up.

Legion Network

Not going to lie, I'm not sure I've even figured out the Legion Network yet. At times it feels like a well-thought-out scam. At times it seems they really are just giving away tokens for playing games. Legion Network is an app for your mobile device that allows you to, like Farsite, complete tasks in order to gain points that enter you into weekly contests. But they also have several P2E games that you can play for rewards and weekly leaderboard rankings. Except, in the 2 months that I've had the Legion Network, their P2E has never worked. It says it above all their games, "P2E Not Active". It did work when I first downloaded it, and I was able to make a few tokens, but it's been seeing some issues ever since.

The games Legion offers are the lowest of the low. The most mindless, clicky games that exist. But, if the P2E is active and you've got time to kill, why not throw knives at a rotating wedge of cheese?

Star Atlas

Of all the BC games on this list, this project seems the most ambitious. It's also the only one with modern graphics and a narrative development team. Watch any interview from their dev team, their marketing team, or their CEO, and you'll see Star Atlas is helmed by people who love video games and want to make a damn good one. The fact that they incorporate crypto and blockchain seems almost a secondary goal. Star Atlas, like Farsite, is looking to create a massive universe/metaverse for their players to explore. And even though the game is still in pre-alpha, they have more lore, story, and characters than just about all the other games on this list combined.

Much like DFK or Farsite, there isn't all that much to do on Star Atlas currently. You can purchase a ship from the marketplace and choose your faction; you can enlist your ship with your faction or stake it. It's unfortunate that Star Atlas' Twitter and discord are more active than its actual game, but the community is a warm, welcoming one, and as the game continues to release updates, more and more players will begin hanging out in their virtual space hangers.

The Brass Tax

If you want to make money from , you need to have a large investment to start with, buy when JEWEL is its lowest, and be prepared to grind every 8 hours for a while before you start to see the fruits of your labor. $1000 would be a meager starting investment, in order to get you two heroes, enough Harmony to cover gas, and a small investment into the bank and gardens to earn passive coins.

has no opportunity to make money at the moment, but if you are lucky enough to purchase some of their virtual land, anyone who mines from that land has to give you a %. Now, the cheapest land is several thousand dollars, and players can't even mine yet. So there's only setup available in Farsite for the moment. Position yourself wisely.

Splinterlands is probably only going to get more popular as more celebrities get into it and more youtubers pop up playing it full time. Heck, they announced a card collaboration with some musical artists. If you want to make money in Splinterlands, but the summoner book, spend about $10-$15 renting rare and legendary cards, and grind your ass away. Like, hours a day. If you can work through the monotony, you'll get there. You can use your winnings to buy card packs, you can use potions to upgrade the packs, you can sell the packs or the cards within. It's not much money to start, but you're looking at part-time job hours in order to get anywhere. 20 hours a week.

Legion Network can give you money if you don't mind spamming your friend's email and social accounts with invitations to join Legion, retweeting everything they post, or writing blog posts about them. If you log in every day and grind their games, you're looking at months and months before you have enough money to buy dinner.

Star Atlas is a child. They're an infant. Though I have ships earning me ATLAS coins from helping my faction, it's paltry. If I kept up the pace I'm at right now, I will make back my initial investment in about a year.

Lots of time and lots of money and you'll make a profit; the more money, the larger the profit; the sooner you get in, the more profit; the more time you spend grinding, the more rewards you'll earn.

What BC games are you playing? Gods? Mech Heroes? Let me know so I can play too!
