Recently Solana ran into an unfortunate incident where the whole system was shut down for a day. This was quite upsetting for a lot of users as it took about a day to restart. There were two lessons that I took away from this miserable experience.
First I’m glad I never put all my money in Solana. As much as I love the low cost and execution speed there is still something to be said for security and robustness. One of the major strikes against Solana according to detractors is that it is “centralized”.
I agree that Solana could stand to decentralize itself further if it wants to survive long term. I found a few staking options that could help in the decentralization effort and allow us to get rewarded at the same time.
