Learn how to buy, sell and Mint NFTs on OpenSeas on Polygon Network Without Paying Crazy ETH Gas Fees. OPENSEA is an online marketplace for buying and selling cryptocollectables. The company is located in New York City and was founded in 2017. Think of it as eBay of NFT market. Except NFT on Openseas purchases are done instantly with buyer and seller with goods exchange on blockchain with preapproved price.
Setting Up OpenSea.IO Accounts
Go to OpenSea.IO. Click on Explore.
You need some Ethereum on your METAMASK wallet for OpenSea to sign up for account. You need to setup MetaMask wallet. If you have not setup MetaMask Wallet with Polygon Network, I will provide a link below to how to setup MetaMask wallet. I will also include video on how to fund your Matic wallet on Metamask from Fiat currency. After you setup MetaMask Polygon wallet and funded with ETH and Matic tokens, you are ready for Buying NFT on Openseas.
Pick or Selecting NFT on OpenSea to Buy
After you setup MetaMask wallet and connected and use it to sign up for OpenSea account, you are ready for buying NFT on OpenSea. Opensea interface is very simple. All the filtering is done on the left side. Since you will be buying and selling NFT on Polygon as oppose to Ethereum because of crazy Ethereum gas fee. In time of Ethereum network congestion, fees are as high as $200. That is crazy for little guys not for whales to buy and sell NFT on Ethereum network. That is why In Openseas you can buy NFT in Polygon and Klyaton networks. I would use Polygon because it is lot more popular Layer 2 Ethereum solution. On the filter for Chains, select Polygon. Now you will see Polygon ETH sign is purple diamond sign (Etheruem sign). Remember black diamond sign is NFT on regular Ethereum network with high gas fees. You always want to buy NFT from users with Blue check mark means Opensea approved sellers. You want to pick NFT sellers with less items to sell and large number of owners. You do not want to pick a seller that has 10 millions items and small number of owners. You also want to check sellers twitter account to see there are very large twitter following at least 5k to 10k users. You want to buy NFT that has increase in price from previous selling history. This means it has market of buyers that in demand.
Buying NFT on OpenSea
AFter you picked your NFT to buy, click Buy Now. Click on Terms of service. You will see the NFT price on ETH and USD at current ETH price. The NFT Royalties rate in percentage. Click on Confirm Checkout button. Step 1, Deposit or convert funds. Please switch your wallet's RPC to the Ethereum network. Switch to Ethereum network on Metamask. Click Convert. Step 2, Wait for ETH to Deposit. Step 3, unlock currency. Step 4, Sign the message. After that you own the NFT on your Polygon wallet.
How to create or Mint New NFT on OpenSea with Polygon Network
Click on Create. Under the Create new item main page, enter your image, video, audio, or 3D model. File types supported are JPG, PNG, GIF, SVG, MP4, WEBM, MP3, WAV, OGG, GLB, GLTF. Max size is 100 MB. You can drag and drop the file to the box shown. Enter Name of the item. External Link field, OpenSea will include a link to this URL on this item's detail page, so that users can click to learn more about it. Enter your link to your own webpage with more details about the NFT you going to sell. In the Description field, the description will be included on the item's detail page underneath its image. Markdown syntax is supported. Provide a detailed description of your item. In Collection field, This is the collection where your item will appear. Keep the Unlockable Content unclicked. This for unlockable content that can only be revealed by the owner of the item. Keep the Explicit & Sensitive Content unchecked. Set this item as explicit and sensitive content. Next, under the Supply field, It is the number of copies that can be minted. No gas cost to you! I will select 1. Now the most important thing is next Blockchain. Click on drop down and select Polygon instead of Ethereum. Next, in Freeze metadata info, Freezing your metadata will allow you to permanently lock and store all of this item's content in decentralized file storage. Finally, click Create. This will Mint NFT for you.
