How the Meta Mask update benefits you [DeFi Tutorial]

MetaMask update secures the fort. MetaMask, the major Ethereum wallet service, and browser extension overhaul its security with a new version with enhanced privacy control. Version 8 features a new login system and lets multiple accounts be saved for a single website.

MetaMask users can now switch between multiple accounts to protect privacy

MetaMask's new "Unmatched Privacy Control" feature focuses on protecting user's private information by connecting the app to a specific website. As such, METAMASK V8 offers users to select one or more accounts for a specific website or even create a new unique account for that website.

"You decide what each site has access to," said MetaMask, pitting the technology against other wallets. Metamask claims that most crypto wallets on the market are vulnerable to private data leakage by providing a single account.

"Most wallets today manage a single account or expose the selected user's primary account to all connected sites, widely revealing the user's private information."

To this we can add that MetaMask has been installed by more than 1,000,000 users in Google Chrome according to the latest statistics. It is an important milestone for the MetaMask team.

MetaMask users continue to grow as the Ethereum wallet plugin becomes one of the most in-demand cryptocurrency extensions. The extension is widely used to manage Ethereum, Ethereum based tokens, and decentralized applications (dApps) directly from the Google Chrome browser.

MetaMask update integrated the EIP-2255 permission system

The EIP-2255 permission system in MetaMask’s update to the ecosystem is a proprietary solution. It enables users to mask their accounts that shouldn't be seen by a particular website, thus enabling them to be logged in for where these accounts might be necessary. Bottom line: manual account swapping is a thing of the past that’s thanks to the new MetaMask update.

Enhanced permissions will allow the MetaMask environment to further tailor itself to the user’s liking and improve the overall user experience. According to the firm, features like decryption, owner information, and MetaMask Snap will benefit from the update too.

How to download metamask is very simple just go to metamask.io click download you can choose between chrome ios and android also if you are using BRAVE you just have to download it from google, wait for it to finish installing and now the metamask icon will appear in the upper right corner, you can log in using the seed phrase of any account you already have or you can create a new account but don't forget to save the seed phrase of the account.

What is MetaMask?

Metamask is a cryptocurrency wallet which can be used on the Chrome, Firefox and Brave browsers. It’s also a browser extension. This means that it works like a bridge between normal browsers and the Ethereum blockchain.

The Ethereum blockchain is a network where users can build their own apps (which are called dApps) and cryptocurrencies. Ethereum also allows its users to write transaction guidelines called smart contracts. MetaMask can be used to store keys for Ethereum cryptocurrencies only.

The cryptocurrency of Ethereum is called Ether. Other cryptocurrencies built on the Ethereum blockchain are called tokens. Most of the tokens built on the Ethereum blockchain are called ERC20 tokens because they follow the rules that Ethereum developers have set out for creating new cryptocurrencies.

So, the MetaMask wallet can be used for storing keys for Ether and ERC20 tokens on three different web browsers. It also allows users to browse the Ethereum blockchain from a standard browser. What other features does it have? And are they any good? Let’s find out, we’ll start with the good stuff…

MetaMask: The Good Stuff

Open source: This means that all the MetaMask code is online and free to access. You can build your own version at home! I’m kidding, don’t do that. I mean, you could but don’t. Open-source software can be reviewed and updated by the community, meaning that it can be continuously improved.

HD settingsHierarchical deterministic settings help users back up their accounts. They do this by giving the user a list of words called seed phrases. Seed phrases can be used to reset lost account information.

Built-in coin purchasing: MetaMask links directly with two exchanges where users can buy cryptocurrency. Users can select Coinbase to purchase Ether and ShapeShift to buy Ether or ERC20 tokens.

Customer support: MetaMask wants to get as many people involved with the Ethereum network as it can. It has a video introduction on its homepage and a detailed support page.

Simple interface: Once it’s set up, MetaMask is very simple to use. All of its features are laid out clearly so sending and receiving currency is easy, even for beginners!

Local key storage: Some wallet providers store keys on their own servers. This is common on exchanges that provide wallets, like Coinbase. MetaMask keys are stored on the user’s own browser, not on any remote servers. This gives the user more control over their public and private keys.

Community: MetaMask is an important part of the Ethereum community. It’s got more than a million active users and has over 40 thousand followers on Twitter.

MetaMask, the birth of a bridge for DApps

MetaMask was developed by two developers, Aaron Davis and Dan Finlay. It was they who laid the first foundations for the development of MetaMask in 2016. The idea behind the project was simple and revolutionary. MetaMask would allow users to use their web browser to easily interact with their favorite Dapps, quickly and safely.

To do this, MetaMask would use the Ethereum interface and web API, web3.js. This official Ethereum library would be the fundamental foundation of the world of possibilities offered by MetaMask. Thanks to it it would be possible to create a proxy or communication bridge between the DApps, MetaMask and the users.

The work turned out to be quite a technical challenge, especially on the subject of maintaining the necessary security for its users. However, MetaMask achieved its mission and on July 14, 2016, its first version was presented. At this point, the extension was available for the Chrome browser and derivatives. Later its version for Firefox would be presented, allowing the use of said extension in that browser.

Since then MetaMask has become the easiest way to access DApps through a user-friendly interface. All this without the need to configure absolutely anything.
