This post is about one medium in which you can earn passive income with crypto.
Please remember – THERE ARE RISKS TO CONSIDER. Nothing is flawless, and you can always lose your money, time and effort put into something. I will detail one method that I've used to earn very little money in just under a year.
If you're like me, then you enjoy the idea of passive income. Money that can be earned either by lending, or purchasing some sort of asset that generates yield. Lofty.ai is a marketplace in which token investors (buyers) and property sellers can come together with their mutual interest in a given property. Investors are able to purchase tokens which are akin to a share in the property. You are not purchasing the entire property, but rather a much smaller fraction in the form of a token.
You make money with Lofty.ai in two ways:
1) Daily Rental Income
This is received by your Lofty.ai account on a daily basis. As you see in the photo below, I was able to collect about .08 cents per day in September. In previous months it was as low as .04 cents per day. This is paid in USD.
2) Token Appreciation
The value of the property will either appreciate or depreciate overtime and thus this will impact the total dollar value of your asset. This is determined by a 3rd party valuation company called HouseCanary which is one of the largest of its kind. Factors such as location, quality of the property, the housing market and overall demand will influence the value of this property.
There are a few reasons why I've enjoyed using Lofty.ai.
1) Lofty.ai is supported by the Algorand blockchain. Algorand is one of my favorite crypto projects and finally there is a real use for the blockchain in the real world. With this in mind, you are also able to use Algorand to purchase tokens for given property.
2) You are able to partially own a property, and vote on decisions. As the property is managed by a 3rd party, they will present important decisions to be voted on by owners. Should rent be increased? Should repairs be done in order to attract new renters? You will get to vote with your tokens along with the other owners.
3) You get to invest in real estate for as low as $50! Of course this is not the same as owning a property 100% by yourself, but you'll be able to test the waters and get a feel for what it may be like. This could be just the start of your real estate journey.
4) Passive income – of course, the dream, the goal, the life, passive income! Although it is very, very small, I've enjoyed earning about .04 – .08 cents a day. I invested $350 USD on November 5th 2022. With rent being paid, and the property slightly appreciating in value, my investment is now worth $375.06 as detailed in the thumbnail photo.
