What is Gods Unchained and How Do I Earn Money?
This post is divided into three parts – the game, what I've earned and some basic tips to get you started. Skip ahead if you're already familiar with the game if you'd only like to read about the latter two.
Gods Unchained is an online collectible card game with strategic gameplay. The game integrates blockchain technology which means that players can own the in-game assets (cards) in the form of NFTs. Created by Immutable, Gods Unchained has been around for just over 5 years and has changed quite a bit in that time. It is perhaps the most developed crypto-related game on the market. It is currently played on a computer, but the mobile version of the game has been beta tested so be on the look out for that.
It borrows a lot of aspects from another popular trading card game called Hearthstone. Cards are high-fantasy creatures, spells and items. Each player chooses a god, and can use various cards from that god's type as well as neutral cards. Each god has a unique set of powers to choose from each game, when combined with the large. As there is a vast amount of cards, and multiple types of gods/god powers, this allows for a lot of creativity and unique strategies when creating a deck. Each player starts with 30HP, and must reduce the other's to 0. The game has built-in tutorials to help new players get started.
You're able to earn $GODS tokens in multiple ways. There is a daily play-to-earn feature where you're able to earn $GODS for the first 10 games of ranked. The amount of tokens you can earn in a given day is determined by your wins, and how many other players are competing that day as the tokens come from a daily pool. Currently, winning 2-4 games out of 10 can yield 1-3 $GODS which is worth around .15 to .40 cents in USD. It is worth noting that to play Gods Unchained is 100% free, and yet you can still earn money. In my two years playing Gods Unchained I have not spent a single penny of my own money on the game but the game has yielded income for my digital wallet.
As the cards are NFTs, you are able to buy/sell them on the marketplace. Transactions are completed either with $GODS or Immutable's native $IMX token. You are able to acquire cards, and convert them to NFTs as you play the game more and more. There is an in-game leveling system which provides free packs for wins. From Friday to Sunday is Ranked Weekend where players can additional card packs depending on how many wins they get as well as their rank.
There is an in-game currency called Flux which allows you to mint cards onto the blockchain. Once on the blockchain you're able to sell them.

What I've Earned
As mentioned before, I started playing Gods Unchained about two years ago. I've played casually in that time and usually on weekends due to the bonus for ranked weekends. I currently own 335.84 $GODS tokens which is worth about $47 USD at the time of this post.
The above figure does not include the value of my NFTs. I currently have around 572 cards, most of which are worth just a few cents. However some are currently valued between $1.00 to $3.00. I'll be the first to admit that I don't have a sexy card collection, but it is important to remember that these were all acquired freely just through time and effort. I'm not even very good at the game. With that said, I will be holding these cards until they increase in value or see them to the grave. I enjoy playing the game, and being able to sell these cards as NFTs is just an added bonus! Right now we are in a bear market, so I'm holding with the assumption that these cards will increase in value during the next bull run.
My Recommendations
Play for Fun
Remember this is a video game first, and a way to earn a little bit of money second. If you are here to strictly earn money, you'll likely not do so well in the long run as your interest will fade. Video games should be fun otherwise you may be missing the point.
Try to Win 3 Games a Day
If you're interested in earning $GODS, I suggest beginning with the modest goal is winning 3 games a day. Remember, only earn $GODS daily for the first 10 games played.
Focus More on Ranked Weekends
On Ranked Weekends you earn cards based on your rank at the beginning, and how many games you win out of your first 18. This is a great way to earn additional card packs besides the ones that you get as you level up through normal game play.
